RECORDSSPECTACULAR & HIGHLY DETAILED! While Porsche's 911 is best
known for uncanny performance and its unique layout, the basic
design most adapted extremely well to changing buyer demands and
increasingly strict regulations throughout its successive
generations. Perhaps most importantly, this attribute ensured the
911's continued dominance, not only on racetracks and dealer
showrooms, but also in the Porsche boardroom and beyond, in the
face of the new front-engine Porsche models launched in the 1970s.
For the revised 1974-75 "G Series" models, Porsche simplified the
model lineup and positioned the Carrera above the 'S' as the top
high-performance 911-based model until the advent of the 930 later
in 1975. While the Carrera was essentially the same as European
counterpart, the engine was slightly detuned in compliance with
stricter U.S. emissions standards. Other Carrera specifics included
upgraded suspension, flared rear fenders, wider wheels and tires,
and usually "Carrera" graphics just above the rocker panels, plus a
"whale-tail" spoiler on the rear decklid. Accompanied by documented
history, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and service records
under the current expert ownership, this Porsche 911 Carrera is
exceptionally rare as 1 of just 395 Carrera Coupes produced for
1975. Benefiting handsomely from a fresh and thorough restoration
costing over $160K, this Carrera was purchased by the current owner
from an ad posted to the PCA (Porsche Club of America) website in
August 2021. According to its known and documented history, the
Carrera was previously owned by Pete Davis, who inherited the car
from his brother Jim Davis, who was a lifelong Monterey, California
resident and highly involved in the PCA show scene, as well as a
legendary Gruppe R crew member. Original documents show he traded a
1973 Porsche 911 in for this '75 Carrera, which has been
photographed in various PCA publications and coverage of Porsche
Werks Reunion meetings. Being a 1975 California model, its VIN
contains a '6' digit where examples bound for all other U.S. states
had a '5,' denoting this car's original California emissions
equipment, which has been subsequently removed for performance and
durability, but included with the car as offered for sale. In
addition, the engine rebuild included a 964 oil pump, chain
tensioner and head stud upgrades, making these cars nearly bullet
proof. The original owner, Jim Davis, was a die-hard Porsche
enthusiast and avid concours participant, as evidenced by the huge
collection of trophies this car earned under his expert and
enthusiastic ownership. Following acquisition of this Carrera, the
current owner put it on a lift and performed an exacting detailing
process, starting with the wheels off and the underside of the car
reviewed and thoroughly detailed. Since the original finishes were
all incredibly well preserved, just some light cleaning confirmed
the fact that this was a real and lifelong Northern Californian
vehicle. Next, the high-specification Carrera engine was fully
rebuilt, and the gearbox fully rebuilt with a new gear set
installed. Other restorative work included the glass-out repaint,
seat recover, and full suspension restoration/rebuild. Mileage is
believed correct with just 57,400 miles indicated at the time of
description writing. A delight for hard-core Porsche collectors and
enthusiasts, this exceptionally well preserved, restored, and
presented 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera simply must be experienced
first-hand. Call us for viewing arrangements and full details, book
