PRODUCEDFRESHLY DETAILED & READY TO EXPERIENCE Based on a pair of
stunning prototypes designed by Marcello Gandini for Bertone and
built expressly for display at the Expo 67 Worlds Fair held in
Montreal, Quebec, the production-ready Alfa Romeo Montreal was
rightly announced as a dream car come true on its March 1970 Geneva
debut. A stylistic tour de force, consistently ranked among the
worlds most beautiful postwar sports cars ever produced, the
Montreal was powered to match with high-revving, 2.6-liter
fuel-injected DOHC V-8 with competition-style dry sump lubrication,
derived from Alfa Romeos Tipo 33 front-line sports racers. Other
highly advanced features of the Montreal included a ZF-sourced
5-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension, a
sophisticated live rear-axle suspension, and disc brakes all
around. Today, Montreal remains coveted for its great looks and
renowned driving experience that must be experienced first-hand,
even by todays demanding standards. Only as many as 3,925 examples
of the Montreal were constructed in all, with the majority of
production through 1977 sold new in Europe and far fewer imported
to North America. Accompanied by the Alfa Romeo Certifcato di
Origine (Certificate of Origin) and copies of its original ACI
(Automobile Club of Italy) documents confirming provenance, this
outstanding 1973 Alfa Romeo Montreal was sold new in Palermo, Italy
on September 9, 1973, remaining there for the next 40-plus years.
In December 2016, it was purchased by Florida-based collector Leo
Schigiel, who commissioned a cosmetic and mechanical restoration,
performed by Carrozzeria Rizza in Rome. A February 2017-dated
invoice on file with the Montreal documents the work performed
there. Appropriately finished in Red over Black vinyl and cloth
upholstery, the Montreal is very well presented and displays a
gentle patina consistent with proper post-restoration care and
limited, adult enjoyment. Along with the Alfa Romeo Classiche
documents and ACI paperwork, this collector-grade 1973 Alfa Romeo
Montreal also includes importation paperwork. As offered, it stands
ready for a new collector/enthusiast to appreciate its sublime
driving experience and masterful styling. Call us today to see this
handsome Italian driving machine today, obtain full details, and
prepare to add it to your collection!
