Once upon a time there was a Division of General Motors once called
Oldsmobile, they started building cars in 1897 originally
established as the Olds Motor Vehicle Company under founder Ransom
E. Olds. Oldsmobile would go on to sell over 35 Million cars with
14 Million of those built at is Lansing HQ factory alone. The
Oldsmobile 88 marketed from 1949 through 1999. The Super 88 in its
third generation was built for only two years, 57-58 and was
officially named golden rocket 88. Fitted with a very powerful for
the time 371 Cubic Inch V8. This particular very handsome example
painted in a two-tone blue with a blue top and interior is very
excellent driver. Appears that the car has been through a frame off
restoration some years back with a full mechanical upgrade with
everything that needed attention at the tune of over $10,000 back
in late 2022. The power convertible top is gorgeous and operates
flawlessly, all lights, blinkers and gauges are in operational
order, the paint shows very nice as does the chrome and britework.
The styling on these late 50's GM cars are something to behold.
This car starts, runs and drives down the road very well with
nothing needed that we have noticed.
