The R107/C107 SL-Class, the successor to the classic “Pagoda” W113 SL, proved so popular the company produced it from 1971 to 1989, one of Mercedes-Benz’s longest-running single series. Rather than attempt to meet the race-bred performance and looks of the original 300 SL, Mercedes focused more on a grand touring, “personal luxury car” feel for their new SL. Over its production run, the car received a series of ever-larger V8s along with a series of Inline-6s. Any R107 is an exceptional machine, with a long list of amenities and remarkable performance.
In comparison to the European cars, US-market R107s received extra smog equipment and a distinctive set of four sealed beam headlamps. For 1974, the front and rear bumpers were increased in size (by eight inches) to account for new NHTSA regulations. Larger, more powerful engines and additional standard amenities ensured the R107 remained relevant throughout its life. Regardless of locale, the R107 was an instant hit and featured in numerous television and film series, often as an indication of success. Recently, values of extremely well-kept R107 SLs have dramatically increased in value, with low-mileage examples naturally attracting the most interest.
The sensational 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560 SL Roadster featured here is finished in stunning Pearl Grey Metallic over an impeccably kept Dark Blue leather interior with a matching folding convertible top and a body-color removable hardtop. This exquisite motorcar has been driven a mere 10,244 miles from new and is among one of the finest examples we've offered in years! I personally believe the investment potential of these iconic Mercedes-Benz convertibles, especially those with such low miles, will grow beyond your imagination. We proudly offer this superlative 1987 560 SL to the most particular collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the very best at an investment price!
