Vehicle Description
The Plexiglass window speedometer was a distinctive feature of this
1954 Ford Crestline, a design element later incorporated into the
first Thunderbird. The blue exterior finish flows across the
sedan's classic lines, highlighting its trademark afterburner-style
taillights. The 15-inch steel wheels wear period-correct hubcaps
and roll on Firestone 215/75R15 tires at all four corners. Chrome
accents trace the roofline and wrap around the windows, while the
front grille and bumpers display the bold American styling of the
era.
Black vinyl bench seats anchor the interior, contrasting
effectively with the blue metal dash panels. The unique speedometer
housing takes center stage, flanked by factory gauges and controls.
Tan fabric door panels complement the seating surfaces, while fresh
dark blue carpeting runs throughout the cabin. The column-mounted
shifter and original steering wheel, complete with a perforated
vinyl wrap, maintain the period-correct atmosphere. An AM radio and
basic ventilation controls round out the dashboard layout.
A 223 CI straight-six engine pairs with a two-speed Ford-O-Matic
automatic transmission, driving power to the 8-inch rear end. The
independent front suspension, featuring control arms and coil
springs, works in concert with the solid rear axle and leaf spring
setup. The drivetrain remains highly original, including the
stock-style single-barrel carburetor and intake manifold. Manual
drum brakes occupy all four corners, while a single exhaust system
with an aftermarket muffler provides the soundtrack.
