The 1963 Fury is the quintessential Mopar would be an
understatement. The '63 Fury essentially brought Plymouth to street
rodding.
1963 saw Plymouths crossing the finish line in first place on the
ovals and on quarter-mile racetracks around the country. Richard
Petty scored 13 of his 14 NASCAR Grand National wins that season in
a '63 Plymouth. The '63s were winning lights on the dragstrips from
coast to coast, in Stock and Super Stock class competition. The
Fury was the top of Plymouth's '63 line. The '63 was the hottest
car to come out of ChryCo's assembly plant in years.
The frame off build started with a rust-free Fury. The sleek body
lines and the chrome and bright work have been enhanced by the deep
mirror finish of the black paint. A touch of red to the side bright
work gives a racing feel. The interior has been done in a
complimentary red. This color combination is a show winner! All the
gauges have been restored and have kept the cool 60's vibes. A
tachometer and a 3-gauge set for volts, oil pressure, and water
temp have been added. To keep things safe 4 sets of seatbelts.
Original power windows.
An upgrade to the front suspension starting with upper and lower
tubular control arms. Stopping improvement with dual reservoir
master cylinder and 11" front disc brakes. A massive 1 1/8" front
sway bar. The power steering is thanks to a Firm Feel 2 steering
box, and a Short Pitman arm rack and pinion.
The original 413ci has been replaced with a 1969 440ci, but badged
as a 413ci. The 440ci is 30 over with 10 to 1 compression Balanced
and Blueprinted. The heads have 2.08 intake, 1.74 exhaust valves.
Hardened seats ported and polished for unleaded gas. A Lunati
VooDoo cam and lifters (474 lift/280 duration). Manley pushrods and
double roller timing chain. Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold with
a Quick Fuel 750 cfm carb, and a Pertronix electronic ignition. The
engine work was done by Pat Blais. Trans cooler and a 26" aluminum
3 core radiator to keep things running cool. To keep the classic
look a 727 Torqueflite cable operated push button transmission.
Power to the ground a 1967 8 3/4" rear with Third Member with 489
casting and 3:23 Posi.
The '63 Fury with 440ci V-8 power, custom Black/Red boasting
distinctive trim inside and out is going to steel many a Plymouth
lover's hearts.
It could be yours for $49,000.00!
