Vehicle Description
This 1971 Chevrolet El Camino SS is finished in orange over black
vinyl and is powered by a 402ci V8 linked with a three-speed Turbo
Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Equipment includes power
steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, 15" wheels, and a
Pioneer CD stereo. The seller purchased the truck in 2018 and
subsequent work included the addition of PerTronix ignition and the
replacement of the distributor, battery, and fan clutch. This El
Camino is now offered with a clean title in the seller's name. The
pickup was finished from the factory in Burnt Orange and was
refinished under previous ownership. Exterior details include
locking hood pins, a drop-down tailgate, and chrome bumpers and
trim. There are paint chips around the car and the seller states
that windshield wipers operate slowly. Snaps are present for a
cover, but no tonneau cover is included in the sale. The 15"
American Racing SS wheels are mounted with 245/50 Dunlop tires. The
car is equipped with power steering, and stopping is provided by
power-assisted front disc brakes. A power steering leak is noted.
The bench seat was recovered in black vinyl in 2024 and is
accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and
carpeting. Amenities include a Pioneer CD stereo, lap belts, and
headrests. The air conditioning, heater, and side speakers do not
work, and wear and fading are present on interior surfaces.
Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel-level
gauge, and a column-mounted Autogage tachometer as well as oil
pressure and coolant temperature gauges mounted underneath the
dash. The five-digit odometer shows 16k miles, approximately 1,500
of which were added under prior ownership. Total mileage is
unknown. The 402ci V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor. A
PerTronix electronic ignition and a replacement distributor were
installed in 2018, and the fan clutch was replaced in 2020. Power
is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed Turbo
Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.
