In 1995, Porsche introduced what would be the most powerful
naturally aspirated 993 ever produced, a race-inspired 911 with
handling to match the raw power: the Porsche 993 Carrera RS.
Armed with an upgraded 300 horsepower 3.8 liter flat six mated to a
6-speed close ratio manual transmission, the Carrera RS was
equipped with track-oriented suspension. Using the wide body from a
993 Turbo to accommodate the wide 18" wheels (18x8" front / 18x10"
rear), the car was an instant hit and driver's delight. Limited to
1,014 examples worldwide and never offered to the U.S. for sale,
the 993 Carrera RSs are now a collector's delight and are the last
air-cooled Carrera RS's.
This 993 Carrera RS, finished in Speed Yellow, was completed on
July 20th, 1995. The car was optioned with equipment for Japan; a
high amperage battery, air conditioning, Becker cassette radio,
75-litre fuel tank, power steering, and electric windows. Tracing
records back, this 993 RS was delivered new to Porsche Mizwa of
Japan in 1995. Japanese service records date all the way to 2015,
where the car was meticulously maintained and serviced for 20
years.
The car would then make its way to its home country of Germany,
where it was purchased in early 2016 by TJS German Motor Cars
residing in Gildeweg, Germany. The car would receive service by
Porsche Brooklands Surrey in May of 2016, receiving preventative
maintenance including new brake pads, brake fluid and oil change,
as well as a visual inspection to make sure everything was in
proper and working order.
The car only lived in its home country of Germany for a little over
a year, eventually finding its way to the United States in late
2017. The car was purchased by Nelson Calle where he welcomed this
993-RS to the states for the very first time. The car was kept in
his small private collection for a number of years. It received a
major service at the end of 2019 and an additional maintenance
service in August of 2021. From 2019 to 2024 the car has only been
driven 294 miles (475km).
Owning the 1995 Porsche 993 Carrera RS is not just about possessing
a car; it's embracing a legacy of precision, power, and
unparalleled driving pleasure. With its limited production,
top-tier specifications, and iconic design, the Carrera RS stands
as a beacon of Porsche's commitment to creating timeless automotive
masterpieces. Become part of an exclusive group that understands
and appreciates the artistry and thrill that the Carrera RS brings
to the open road.
The 993 Carrera RS was much improved over and quite different from
its predecessor, the 964 Carrera RS. According to Porsche, every
part of the car was designed from the ground up, including the
engine, and only 20% of its parts were carried over from the
previous generation. These updates, such as its new light-alloy
subframe and multi-link Weissach axel, fixed the previous lift-off
oversteer. All of these improvements led to a more civilized car
overall and provided an improved driving experience.
Not only did Porsche avoid carrying over most of the parts from the
previous generation, but for the Carrera RS they aggressively cut
weight to create a vehicle that comes in at a mere 2,800lbs. By
removing anything that was deemed "unnecessary", all the way down
to the headlight washers, Porsche was able to shave off over 220lbs
to the final curb weight.
Upon arrival at Canepa, every collector car for sale is put through
an extensive and diligent process called the "Canepa Difference."
This includes a major and comprehensive mechanical inspection where
all systems are checked, serviced, and restored as needed. They
also receive award-winning Concours-level detailing, including a
thorough cleaning of each and every surface.
