This 1954 Chevrolet 3100 5 Window Restomod made its mark in the
April 2012 issue of "Custom Classic Trucks" magazine. The House of
Colors Passion Purple paint amplifies the truck's classic lines.
Custom touches abound with frenched headlights, deleted trim, and
tail lights built into the roll pan. The doors open suicide-style,
activated by door poppers. Riding on 17" Budnik wheels, the truck's
stance is accentuated by 225/50R17 front and 255/50R17 rear Nitto
tires. A tonneau cover and molded-on sun visor round out the
exterior modifications, creating a sleek profile that pays homage
to the truck's roots while pushing boundaries.
The cabin showcases a bold mix of black and purple leather with
ostrich inserts, featuring a comfortable bench seat. A custom dash
mirrors the exterior's color scheme, complemented by a Budnik
billet steering wheel on a tilt column. Digital gauges provide
vital information at a glance. Entertainment comes courtesy of an
Alpine AM/FM/CD unit mounted in a custom overhead console. Electric
windows, Vintage Air air conditioning, and pop-out billet cup
holders amp up the comfort factor. The custom door panels and
headliner complete the interior's cohesive design, blending style
with functionality.
A 5.7 Liter TPI V8 engine powers this restomod, paired with a
4-speed 700R4 automatic transmission. The engine bay features a
shaved and custom firewall, with wiring and air conditioning hoses
tucked away for a clean look. Chrome components, including the
intake and valve covers, add visual appeal. A Griffin radiator
works in tandem with an electric fan for optimal cooling. The
drivetrain is completed by a 10-bolt rear end with 3.73 gears. The
suspension system combines coil springs and shocks up front with a
4-link setup, coilovers, and a panhard bar in the rear. Power disc
brakes on all four corners provide strong stopping power. Shorty
headers feed into a dual exhaust system with aftermarket mufflers,
giving this classic truck a muscular growl.
