Vehicle Description
The Chevy Impala had always been a fun muscle car during its first
several generations, beginning in the late 1950s, but as with most
cars during the Gas Crisis, times got lean, and performance was
relegated to an afterthought. However, when GM decided to resurrect
this car into the 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS you see here, it became
an entirely different beast altogether. This well-preserved car has
just 42,456 original miles on it and has spent the last several
years essentially in a bubble, waiting for a new owner to come
along and get out on the highway for some serious driving. Original
black paint still covers the original body panels, while the
original window sticker, dealer invoice, service manuals, and
maintenance records all corroborate the care and light workload
this car has been privy to over its three decades of existence.
Under the hood we find the original 5.7-liter LT1 V-8, which in
stock form produced 260 hp and an impressive 330 lb-ft of torque.
Unlike the Corvette of the time, the Impala uses cast-iron heads
(versus aluminum), and had its cam profile set for more low-end
grunt than high-end horsepower. All those ponies are then herded
through a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission before heading
out to the limited-slip rear where a 3.08:1 rear gear waits to put
power to the pavement via the Impala's 17-inch stock wheels wrapped
in 255/50ZR-17 BFG rubber.

Built only from 1994 to 1996, just 69,758 of them over three model
years, this hi-po sedan was not long for this world before GM
decided to shut down production. But, with an example with just
42,456 miles on it like this 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS we have for
you, this is your second chance to get your hands on one. With just
one owner, this car is about as stock as the day it rolled off the
assembly line, and although it is hard to define what's 'cool' and
what isn't, we sure know it when we see it, and this SS definitely
has it in spades. Call today!
