The Black Bear is a 1970 Land Rover Series IIa, completely rebuilt with period-specific finishes and super-powered mechanics. Painstakingly built by Jared Lemana and team at Churchill Classics in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Most builders build for volume—this Land Rover was built over 4 years while obsessing over every part and fit for lasting quality and aesthetic. Our core principle was to honor the beauty of transformation through the value of preserving heritage. With an obsession for detail and a commitment to the essentials, the Black Bear was completely disassembled down to the very last bolt and brought back to this new life, acknowledging it’s legacy while honoring the present. The Black Bear was developed from the perfect formula for both on-road and off-road use. The formula is to never overbuild the truck, but to improve it with the right blend of modifications to handle any terrain no matter how gnarly.
