This is a genuine 442 and it has the complete W-30 package
including a genuine 1970 W-30 engine! Also has a nice list of
options including air conditioning and the dual gate shifter! Super
sweet quality and condition. Oldsmobile...escape from the
ordinary!
EXTERIOR: What an exotic muscle car-scoops, stripes, and a spoiler!
It has a genuine Ram Air hood, steel with fiberglass scoops. The
W-30 stripes are done accurately, they are a lot more difficult
than you may think. Has the correct W-30 emblems. It was repainted
Rally Red, which yes, I agree they should have called it orange. It
was beautifully applied with great attention to detail then
polished to a smooth and glossy finish. Looking down the side of
the body it is straight as an arrow. All the panels are properly
aligned with good gaps. The big heavy doors close easily with
minimal effort. The black vinyl roof compliments the stripes
perfectly. The 442 grills are in great shape and all the trim is
shiny. The bumpers have been rechromed, it has the trumpet tips in
back. The rear spoiler and sport mirrors really enhance the profile
nicely. It's sitting on a set of Rally II wheels that are painted
body color with a chrome lip. They are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial
T/A tires.
INTERIOR: Absolutely gorgeous, and virtually everything is like
new! The headliner, sun visors, dash pad, gauge bezel, door panels,
seats, and carpeting have all been replaced. The bucket seats with
headrests have a great feel to them. It has Rally gauges and the
Tic Tic Tach. The clock movement been upgraded with quartz
internals. The Am-Fm radio is actually a reproduction with modern
internals. It has a cool Hurst dual gate shifter that is lots of
fun to use. It's also equipped with a remote driver's side mirror
and the dome light is working. Overall, this interior is a
knockout!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This car has the very desirable 1970 W-30 455
engine, that was the peak year making 370 horsepower and 500 ft lbs
of torque. It has the very desirable "F" heads and the aluminum
intake. The Ram Air induction system is hooked up and working. The
air conditioning has been serviced and upgraded to R-134 freon.
It's equipped with power steering and power brakes too. All the
components are proper and clean. The underside of the hood and
firewall have been neatly painted black. It has genuine red plastic
inner fenders that say, "hey, I'm a W-30!"
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Inside is very complete. It has the Oldsmobile
felt mat, and it also has the rubber accessory mat. It also has a
working trunk light. Plus, a matching painted Rally wheel with full
size spare tire and jack assembly.
UNDERSIDE: It comes with the Rally suspension which includes boxed
rear control arms plus front and rear sway bars. The steering and
suspension are in great shape and have been rebuilt at some point.
It has a more recent dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers and the
correct trumpet tips going out through the rear bumper. The gas
tank has been replaced. It has disc brakes in front, drum in back,
and the E-brake cables appear new. Looking up at the engine it is
clean and also has a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. In back is a
12 bolt rear end. The floors and rockers appear to be all solid
metal with a very thin undercoating.
SERVICE: Our shop inspected the car and adjusted the fan shroud,
charged the A/C, replaced the driver's seat cushion, calibrated the
speedometer, and adjusted the steering gearbox.
This high-quality clone has all the makings of a real W-30 without
the hefty price tag. Wouldn't you like something new to rock out
with? This is it!
