It started life as a Kansas City school bus! Then during 2002-2003
it was transformed into what you see today. After a detailed frame
off restoration this Carryall went on to win many top awards, it
was featured in Classic Chevy World magazine, and it earned a
Platinum score of 991 at Classic Chevy International. Modern
amenities like air conditioning and an overdrive transmission make
it a pleasure to drive!
EXTERIOR: The color combination and stance are striking! You will
get noticed everywhere you go in this unique one-of-a-kind
masterpiece! The two-tone paint has been beautifully laid out then
polished to a shiny and reflective finish. The panels have been
nicely aligned with gaps that are better than average. The big
heavy doors close easily with minimal effort. Even though this is a
custom, I appreciate that the builder left the original hood
ornament and fender emblems for that classic touch. All the glass
has been replaced except for the rear windows. All the rubber seals
and fuzzy strips have been replaced also. The front grill is
immaculate and basically all the other chrome was refinished with a
beautiful shine. I absolutely love the windshield visor. It's
sitting on a set of 15" painted steel rims with chrome lips that
are wrapped in BFGoodrich white wall radial tires. It also has a
tow hitch with receiver cap.
INTERIOR: Here's what makes this truck so cool! It used to haul
students to school, now you can haul the entire family to a car
show in style, and still have room left over. The three rows of
seats have been beautifully refinished in black and red houndstooth
with red vinyl. The frames have all been nicely painted red. All
the bare metal inside has also been painted slick just like the
exterior. The headliner was replaced and looks great. The carpeting
was also replaced and has bound edges. All the gauges have been
updated with modern ones by Dolphin that have a vintage look. I
like that they restored the original wheel and the modern a/c
controls look like the originals. It also has aftermarket billet
gas and brake pedals.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It's a beautifully dressed small block 406
engine! Lots of chrome and polished parts including the air filter,
carburetor, intake manifold, valve covers, water pump, radiator,
overflows, alternator, A/C compressor, brackets and even the
pulleys. Everything was totally rebuilt and looks shiny and proper.
The power steering is modern with a polished remote reservoir and
stainless braided hoses. Upgraded cooling system with an aluminum
radiator and overflow bottle along with utilizing the engine fan
and an auxiliary electric fan. The underside of the hood is painted
just like the exterior. The fender wells and firewall have been
smoothed and all the bolts in the engine bay are new stainless
steel.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The back side of the ambulance style doors and
jamb are painted slick just like the body. The weather stripping
was replaced. Behind the third row seat is ample space for storage.
It is nicely painted and carpeted with bound edges. Stereo speakers
have been added to both side panels.
UNDERSIDE: It was a body off frame restoration with many mechanical
upgrades! Up front has a Mustang 2 style independent suspension
with tubular control arms, coilover shocks, plus rack and pinion
steering. In back the shocks and springs were replaced but it also
has airbag helpers for a softer ride. The brake system was totally
upgraded with disk at all four wheels and a power brake booster is
neatly concealed under the truck. The fuel system was also replaced
including the tank. Looking up at the motor is still spotless with
a chrome high torque starter. There's an upgraded 700R4 overdrive
automatic trans and a rebuilt drive shaft that leads back to a
Lincoln rear end with 3.55 gears. The frame and floors are solid
and neatly painted. Everything is clean and proper!
SERVICE: Our lead mechanic thoroughly inspected this truck and we
replaced the horn, repaired the speedometer, repaired the driver
door handle, and repaired the taillights.
The ultimate family hot rod! It will easily impress the kiddos and
car enthusiasts alike. It has been highly acclaimed by publications
and judges too. All the work has been done, all the build money has
been spent, now it's your turn to have some fun!
