Vehicle Description
Model Information:The year 2013 marked the introduction of the
fifth generation Viper with changes and improvements that were more
than just skin deep. An all-new chassis, braking upgrades, more
power, a new interior, and a bold and sinister looking exterior
that looked even more like a snake ready to strike. Under the
clamshell hood was the familiar all aluminum 8.4L V10 but with
power output improved by 40 horsepower to a total of 640, and a 40
ft. lb. improvement in torque to 600. This potent engine featured a
new aluminum flywheel with twin plate clutch assembly that reduced
rotating inertia and saved 11 pounds. This driveline was installed
in a new high strength steel and aluminum space frame that was 50%
stiffer to twist and placed the engine behind the front wheel
centerline and slightly to the right for better weight
distribution. The chassis of the fifth generation was widened at
the front track, with reduced spring rates, hollow stabilizer bars,
aluminum bodied Bilstein shock absorbers with driver selectable
Street and Race modes. Brakes were updated with standard Brembo
four piston calipers in both front and rear with an optional Track
Package that included lightweight two-piece rotors with aluminum
tophats for improved cooling and heat dissipation. All of this
mechanical bliss was then wrapped in a stunning body with carbon
fiber hood, roof and hatch with aluminum for the door and sills,
saving 100 pounds in the process. The new and more spacious
interior received a configurable LCD instrument display, improved
seats, an improved infotainment system, and switches for the driver
selectable suspension settings. As a whole this new fifth
generation was improved in every possible area, and the results
spoke for themselves. The fifth generation Viper GTS was capable of
0-60mph in only 3.5 seconds, through the quarter mile in 11.5
seconds, and on to a top speed of 205mph, the first time a
production Viper could exceed the double century mark.Vehicle
