Vehicle Description
1957 Thunderbird. Its a factory built replica and registered as a
1957. Not sure if its a Dofral, a Shay or Prestige which were all
making this car in the 80's. Fiberglass body so no rusting issues,
the frame has no rust other then some on the surface , When I
bought the car it was in sad shape, the PO had the car for 25 years
and only drove it for 'events'. The car has 26,997 original miles.
The car runs and drives great, all the running gear is modern so
not getting parts problems. It has a Mustang II front suspension
with rack and pinion steering, a Mustang C4 automatic transmission
and a Mustang rear axle. I installed new rotors, pads and bearings
, I didnt do the rear brakes. The car has a great running 1979
Mustang 5.0 engine, with a new Edelbrock intake manifold and carb,
new distributor, cap, rotor, ignition wires and spark plugs, new
battery and voltage regulator. The engine idles at 40 PSI and goes
to 60PSI above idle. No smoke, taps knocks etc. The transmission
shift solidly and has no leaks. I installed a new Cold Air
heater/AC unit. I didnt hook up the A/C, the heater works perfect.
Comes with 5 brand new 205 R 75 ww tires with wires caps. The PO
removed the bench and installed color matching red/black bucket
seats from a 1964 Thunderbird. The seats are in place but not
bolted down until I was finished with the interior work. I removed
the ammeter and installed a new SW volt meter. The PO installed a
new fuel level sender and new fuel gauge. The top is removable, has
a full red cloth headliner and the port hole windows. The car is a
working driving project car, there are several things that need to
be done, new carpets, the seats could use a refreshing , the PO
painted the car 'rattle can' Satin Black. The paint is passable, I
was going to leave it 'as-is'. There are other minor details to do
but Ive done all the major big stuff. condition: good cylinders: 8
