Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful numbers matching 1972 Corvette Stingray Convertible in fantastic condition with only 87,625 original miles. The Sunflower Yellow (912) over Saddle Vinyl (417) color combination is highly desirable, truly striking, and looks great on this Corvette shark body style. Importantly, this is also the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag, which is pictured in this ad. This car is absolutely loaded with great options such as power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, and tilt/telescopic steering column.

We have personally driven this Stingray about 20 miles. During that time that the car was completely reliable, has no issues, and was a true pleasure to drive. The car comes with a wealth of receipts for maintenance and repairs dating back to the 1990's. The receipts total over $4,000 so the car has been well maintained over the years.

Besides the correct paint and trim codes this Corvette is "Numbers Matching" meaning the engine and transmission that are in car are the correct and original units that were installed in the car at the factory in St. Louis in January of 1972. Even detailed items such as the carburetor, exhaust manifolds, alternator, starter, and even all four rims are date coded, correct, and original. The last six digits of the VIN, 511836, are stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured in this ad, and the engine is original to the car. The transmission is also original with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main case and pictured

We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable classic Corvette Stingray Convertible at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 "chrome bumper" Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red-hot right now and on the rise. The low mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, which is also pictured in this ad. Please peruse all of the photos, video, list of numbers, and other information below to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

Exterior

The Sunflower Yellow (912) exterior is in nice driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. The original rally wheels and center caps are in great condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The raised white letter tires are literally brand new with less than ten miles on them and are correctly sized 225/70R15. The soft top is in good condition overall. There are no major blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some touch ups, small cracks, orange peel, a chip in the windshield visible in the photos and some other tiny imperfections around car that were too faint to show up in pictures, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. This Stingray has no rust issues. As one can see in the many photos of the underside this car is very clean underneath. The frame is solid with no rust around the "key hole" area on the frame in front of the rear tire and we have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or "birdcage" area, which is the most common spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included specific photos of the areas most prone to rust to show how nice this car looks.

Window Date Codes

Please note that most of the glass on this Stingray is date coded and original, predating the car's body build date of the January 19, 1972 (F19). Original glass is a good indication that this car has no major accident history.

Interior

The Saddle Vinyl (417) interior of the Corvette is in great condition. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are clear. The dash and console are in excellent shape with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. The carpet is in great condition with no rips, holes, or major stains. The seats look just as good in person as they do in the photos with a small spot of wear in the typical spot on the bolster where the driver gets in and out and some other signs of age here and there. The car still has its original radio that gets good reception. Most importantly, the dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. Both seat belts work and retract properly. This is a very common issue on C3 Corvettes, especially with the 1972 model year as it was the first Corvette to have retractable belts, and an item many buyers do not think to check. The jack and jack handle are still with the car, stored correctly in the storage compartment behind the passenger seat. The spare is also still with the car. This Corvette has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes.

Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well, especially for a convertible, and the excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its life and another great verification of the low original mileage.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. As stated above I have driven the car about 20 miles with no issues. The original numbers matching engine starts up right away every time, runs well and idles smooth. It drives great and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds. In the video one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts well throughout the power band. The car runs cool and does not overheat. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, and correct as one can see in the photos. The original valve covers, air cleaner, and even the ignition shielding are all still in place.

The radio works as do all the exterior lights, interior lights, dash lights, indicators, horn, and wipers. Both manual vent controls on the console work, which is a very common problem on C3 Corvettes. The blower for the heater works on all speeds. Even the key buzzer still works. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works. The headlights and wiper door go up quickly. Please note that the vacuum system works properly from both the respective switches on the dash and the override switches under the steering column. The entire operation from both switches can be viewed in the video. The wipers work and the door goes up when the wiper switch is turned on, but one has to be careful and time turning off the switch so the door does not contact the wiper arms, or someone could just use the override switch. All of the gauges...for more information please contact the seller.
