For Sale at Auction: 1996 Jaguar XJ12 in Chattanooga, Tennessee
Introduced at the Paris Motor Show in October 1994, the X300 was
marketed as the "New Series XJ" and emerged from a substantial £200
million investment in new facilities by Ford. This model
represented a significant milestone as the first Jaguar XJ
developed entirely under Ford Motor Company ownership, marking an
evolution from the previous XJ40 generation. It maintained the
renowned Jaguar independent rear suspension system while placing a
strong emphasis on improved build quality, enhanced reliability,
and a return to traditional Jaguar styling.
The XJ12 model, which carries the chassis code X305, featured the
6.0-liter V12 engine. The rear trunk lid XJ12 badge distinguished
it, in addition to the V12 insignia inlaid on the passenger-side
dashboard wood panel, a V12 badge on each B-pillar, chromed door
mirrors, and a gold-colored Jaguar crest atop the radiator grille.
The interior was refined with more standard features, which were
only available as options on the other models. In the United
States, this generation of the XJ12 was available only as a
short-wheelbase model in 1995 and 1996, exclusively in
long-wheelbase form.
Finished in Sapphire Blue over a Cream Connolly leather interior,
this 1996 Jaguar XJ12 was retained by its original owner for a
remarkable 26 years until 2022. Today, this well-specified example
has only covered a limited 32,706 miles at the time of cataloging.
As the pinnacle of the Jaguar range, this car featured numerous
luxuries, including 18 inch wheels from an XJR, heated
power-adjustable front seats, heated rear seats, burl walnut
folding rear picnic tables, Harman Kardon sound system, cruise
control, and automatic climate control. Given the exclusivity of
the model, it is believed to be one of only 196 examples produced
for the U.S. market that year. As a result of its diligent low
mileage and long-term care, this 1996 Jaguar XJ12 remains a
remarkably well-preserved example that effortlessly combines
elegance, performance, and luxury in one stunning package.
