Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is pleased to present to you this 1966 Pontiac
Bonneville convertible. This long stylish cruiser comes to us today
dressed in a driver-quality respray of its original color - Cameo
Ivory. Complementing the white paint is a power-operated white
convertible top with a glass rear window that is in good condition.
The front end of this Bonneville features stacked headlights in
bright bezels flanking a split grille with a Pontiac badge at the
center of the hood edge, which is very similar in style to a GTO of
the same year. A large chrome bumper rests beneath the grille to
complete the look. Peering down the car's long sides, you'll see
the curvaceous "coke-bottle" styling of this B-body accented by
subtle red pinstripes that flow down the body line. Bright ribbed
rocker/lower-body molding runs from the front wheels to the back
bumper with a brief pause at the fender skirts that partially cover
the rear wheels. Other bright elements like window trim, door edge
molding, "Bonneville" lettering, and door handles lend to the cool
side view. The cherry on top is the Pontiac Rally II wheels, all
wrapped in General Amertitech ST tires. At the rear of the car is
another large chrome bumper with integrated reverse lights, wide
rectangular taillights, dual chrome exhaust tips, a power antenna,
and more "Bonneville" lettering on the decklid edge.
Under the large hood is a tidy black engine bay with what we
believe to be the original 389 Pontiac V-8 at the center. The blue
block is topped with blue-painted valve covers and intake manifold.
Atop the intake are a 4-barrel carburetor and a black air cleaner
with a 389-4 decal. Other highlights under the hood include power
steering, cast exhaust manifolds, and power brakes (single
reservoir, front discs, and rear drums). Mated to the stout V-8 is
a 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the tires via
a 10-bolt rear end. The engine fires up with ease and runs strong
while the transmission shifts smoothly between gears.
When you open the driver's door, courtesy lights come on to
illuminate a largely original red interior. The door panels look
OEM-correct and they're a blend of red vinyl and red carpet with
bright accents. The panels are in good overall condition with some
light wear on the armrests. The driver's side features an interior
toggle for the side mirror. The red hook loop carpet welcomes you
inside for a seat on the wide and very comfortable front bench
seat. Both front and back red vinyl seats look original to the car
and show a fair amount of checking and creasing from age, but no
splits or tears. The red padded vinyl dashpad is crack-free and it
sits atop an original and very stylish dash. On the driver's side
of the dash is a brightly framed woodgrain instrument and gauge
bezel that contributes to the classy look. Directly ahead of the
driver is a wide 120mph speedometer and an odometer that shows
75,624 miles that are actual per the title. To the right are three
individual square, chrome-trimmed, driver-oriented "boxes" that
contain gauges for gas and battery as well as a clock (inop.).
Below are controls for the heat and fan, a working lighter, and
what appears to be the original Pontiac AM push-button radio
(powers up, but doesn't seem to work). To the left are knobs for
the lights and working wipers. Mounted underneath the dash pad are
switches for the power convertible top and the power antenna. The
driver is treated to a cool OEM 2-spoke steering wheel with a red
and clear plastic ring, woodgrain decals on the spokes, and a
Pontiac logo horn center cap (working). The steering column is also
home to the shifter for the three-speed automatic. Ahead of the
passenger is a brightly-trimmed rectangular section with
"BONNEVILLE" lettering and a grab-handle beneath. There is also a
glovebox with a working courtesy light and an original owner's
manual. Back in the large trunk, you'll find a vinyl mat, a set of
red rubber floormats, a non-matching spare with a factory jack, and
a jacking instructions sticker under the lid.
If it's a stylish, smooth-driving old-school drop-top that you're
looking for, then stop right there - this '66 Bonneville is it!
This ivory beauty checks a ton of boxes - powerful engine, power
steering, power brakes, comfortable interior, working power top,
and good looks that will have folks everywhere giving you
thumbs-ups and compliments! Best of all, this is a classic cruiser
that won't break the bank! Give our staff a call today before
someone else snatches this cool Pontiac up first!
