Vehicle Description
Chassis No. ZFF90HLA8L0249372
Since 2003, Ferrari has offered track-focused variants of its V8
models that embody the essence of their racing counterparts. These
special series emphasize reduced weight, increased power, and
enhanced rigidity, drawing from the Ferrari Challenge and FIA GT
Championships. Notable examples include the 360 Challenge Stradale,
430 Scuderia, 458 Speciale, and most recently, the 488 Pista -
Italian for "Track."
The track-ready evolution of the 488 would continue the practice of
adapting racing innovations and aerodynamics for road use, taking
inspiration from its 488 Challenge and the 488 GTE sports prototype
siblings. These included a Formula One-derived S-Duct, GTE-style
rear diffuser, and enlarged "dolphin-tail" rear spoiler. These
features not only improved downforce by a claimed 20 percent but
also contributed to the Pista's distinctive, performance-oriented
stance.
Underneath the Lexan rear window rested mid-mounted,
twin-turbocharged V8 - a configuration not seen since the legendary
F40. Improvements over the standard 488 GTB, including repositioned
air intakes and an enlarged intercooler, yielded a remarkable 50
horsepower increase and made it "the most powerful V8 engine in the
Maranello marque's history." Inside, a sparce, carbon-fiber-laden
interior lacked sound deadening, contributing to some 198 pounds in
weight savings and a visceral experience behind the wheel. This
translated directly to on-track performance, with the Pista lapping
Ferrari's Fiorano test track in 1:21.5 - two seconds faster than
the 458 Speciale.
This highly optioned 488 Pista features a beautiful Rosso Corsa
exterior complemented by a two-tone Nero and Argento Nrburgring
racing stripe, red brake calipers, and Scuderia Ferrari fender
shields. Carbon fiber options were specified wherever possible,
including the front flaps, front air vents, side air splitters,
rear decklid, engine cover, rear diffuser, under-door covers, rear
molding, inner door sills, and upper center console. Optioned with
an equally stunning interior, occupants are greeted by Alcantara
Nero upholstery with Rosso leather details and contrast stitching,
as well as large carbon fiber racing seats with Cavallino logos
stitched in the headrests. While the 488 Pista is clearly at home
on the track, this superb example offers many welcome luxury
amenities including a Suspension Lifter, Parking Camera, Adaptive
Frontlight System, and Radionavi System with Bluetooth. The car is
also accompanied by the original set of matte black 20-inch forged
wheels, should the next caretaker wish to return the car to its
factory specification.
The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report shows that the
Ferrari was initially registered in New Jersey, visiting Wide World
Ferrari in Spring Valley, New Jersey on multiple occasions for
service. In 2023, the car entered the Texas-based collection of the
consignor. Offered in superb condition with just over 4,000 miles
on the odometer at the time of cataloging, this is an excellent
opportunity for a collector to acquire one of Ferrari's most
exhilarating offerings in an outstanding specification - surely one
of the finest and most unique to emerge from Maranello in recent
years.
