The 2005-2006 Ford GT stands as a true modern classic, brilliantly
recapturing the spirit of Ford's legendary GT40 while establishing
itself as a formidable supercar in its own right. Originally
unveiled as a concept at the 2002 North American International Auto
Show to celebrate Ford's centennial, the resulting production Ford
GT masterfully blended cutting-edge performance with the iconic
design of its Le Mans-winning predecessor. Penned by Chief Designer
Camilo Pardo, the GT's silhouette paid homage to its forebear while
cutting a thoroughly modern figure. Beneath its sculpted aluminum
body rested a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 producing a thunderous 550
horsepower, mated to a precise six-speed manual transmission. The
GT's drivetrain propelled it to a top speed of 205 miles per hour,
while sprinting from zero to 60 mph in a mere 3.3 seconds, firmly
establishing its supercar credentials.
For the 2006 model year, Ford introduced the coveted Heritage
Edition, a limited-production variant that paid homage to the Gulf
Oil-liveried GT40 Mk IIs of the late 1960s. This $13,000 option,
internally coded "GL PO," featured the iconic Heritage Blue and
Epic Orange color scheme complete with white roundels. Limited to
just 343 examples, its rarity, combined with its association with
one of motorsport's greatest rivalries instantly made the Heritage
Edition the most sought-after variant of the Ford GT.
This exceptional Heritage Edition Ford GT is one of 343 produced in
2006. In addition to its Heritage Edition livery, this example was
factory-equipped with all three remaining options, including the
$4,000 McIntosh CD stereo system, the $3,500 lightweight BBS
forged-aluminum wheels, and the $750 gray-finished Brembo brake
calipers. Acquired by the consignor in early 2024, this exquisite
Heritage Edition is offered showing a mere 3,166 miles from new and
remains in wonderful condition. Accompanied by its original owner's
manuals and highly desirable matching Heritage livery fitted car
cover, this GT represents the ultimate "four-option"
investment-grade example.
Celebrated for its timeless design, high-performance capabilities,
and the enduring spirit of the historic racing legacy it embodies,
the Ford GT Heritage Edition holds a special place in automotive
history and has become one of the most highly sought-after and
collectible modern supercars.
