Vehicle Description

In the early 2000s, AMG managed to outdo itself by introducing a
biturbo 6.0-liter V12 that produced an astounding 604 horsepower.
This output, impressive even by today's standards, was truly
otherworldly when the SL 65 debuted in 2005. For perspective, the
contemporary Ford GT mustered 550 horsepower by comparison. Perhaps
even more astonishing was the V12's mammoth 738 lb-ft of torque,
far surpassing even the most exotic supercars of the era such as
the Porsche Carrera GT and the Ferrari Enzo.
This ultimate iteration of the R230 SL-Class boasted the full
complement of AMG enhancements, elevating well above its SL 600
stablemate. A more aggressive body kit with enlarged front air
intakes accommodated the increased cooling demands, while the
thunderous exhaust note left no doubt as to the twelve-cylinder
powerhouse lurking beneath the hood. Massive 19 inch wheels
shrouded equally impressive brakes, with 15.4 inch front rotors
gripped by eight-piston calipers to rein in the incredible
performance.
With an original price tag approaching $200,000, the SL 65 AMG
represented the ultimate expression of the Mercedes-Benz flagship
roadster. This particular 2008 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 is finished in a
striking Alabaster White over Dark Pearl/Pebble Beige Exclusive
Nappa leather interior and features the trademark power-retractable
"panoramic vario-roof" - a tinted glass roof deck above the driver
and passenger, offering occupants a choice between open-air
motoring or a light-filled enclosed cabin experience. Inside, the
luxurious cabin boasts heated and ventilated seats for year-round
comfort, while other appointments include a BOSE sound system and
COMAND navigation system.
This SL 65 AMG has benefited from thoughtful upgrades and diligent
maintenance under previous ownership. A remote convertible top
opening system has been installed for added convenience, while a
Bluetooth module has been fitted in place of the CD changer.
Service under previous ownership is said to have included the
replacement of the ABC (Active Body Control) filter and pump, the
radiator, all four brake pads, as well as mounting a new set of
Michelin tires. Additionally, the front top cylinders were
reportedly rebuilt, ensuring smooth operation of the retractable
hardtop.
The clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report indicates that the Mercedes
spent time registered in Minnesota, Florida, and South Carolina
prior to joining the Texas-based consignor. Now showing 67,647
miles at the time of cataloging, this SL 65 AMG represents a rare
opportunity to acquire a well-maintained example of Mercedes-AMG's
mid-2000s tour de force, offering an unmatched combination of
luxury, performance, and presence.
