by the pros at Award Winning J-Rod & Customs out of Auburn,
Washington. That high quality reboot, completed over the course of
24 months, stripped the car's body all the way to bare metal. Once
everything was solid and straight, rich code Y Butternut Yellow was
lovingly sprayed, buried in clear and buffed to a mirror-like
shine. And today, this striking Chevy rolls as a five-star
testament to great taste and enduring design!
The car's clean profile begins at a predictable Super Sport grille,
which centers a prominent "SS396" emblem between a bright bumper,
amber markers and modern, dual-mode headlights. At the top of that
grille, a familiar Super Sport Hood bends a conservative "CHEVELLE"
script opposite a smoked greenhouse. That glass, cleared by
polished wipers, stacks clean stainless frames under painted drip
rails. At the sides of the car, traditional Super Sport rocker trim
parallels intricate cross-flags and stylish "Super Sport" quarter
scripts beneath factory door handles and classy mirrors. And out
back, a second bright bumper traces a requisite Super Sport valance
that's dotted with a second "SS396" badge and finned
taillights.
POWER WITH A PUNCH
What really impressed us is that when you open up the hood you're
looking at what appears to be a stock retaining vibe. Under that
hood you'll find the correct 396 CID with some significant hidden
modern upgrades such as the new FiTech fuel injection and a highly
detailed engine compartment. Look a bit further and you'll see the
custom headers and the modernized Ridetech suspension with the Coil
over shocks! If that's not enough you'll see the new power brake
booster, new alternator, and a host of other fine quality stock
retaining gems.
CLASSIC APPEARANCE WITH A SLIGHTLY LOWERED STANCE
Swing this Chevy's doors and you'll find a restoration-fresh
cockpit. Front and center, you'll find the Super Sport dash and a
newly upgraded retro AM/FM radio equipped with BluTooth. Factory
side panels shows fresh carpet, the stock console and an awesome
rebuilt 2 speed Powerglide transmission. The driver enjoys the
car's power through the standard "SS" steering wheel. Peek in the
glovebox and you'll find the Go EFI programmable controller should
you wish to fine tune the FiTech EFI or simply check on all the
engine functions.
