Cincy Classic Cars is proud to share this stunning 1977 Special Edition Trans AM which comes with factory ordered 4 speed manual transmission coupled with a Pontiac 400 engine with both being numbers matching. Only 2699 1977 Trans Am's came from the factory in this configuration. This SE TA comes with PHS documents, original build sheet, and original window sticker validating this as a factory Special Edition TA. This TA features a beautiful repaint in factory Black with gold pin stripes with newer decals, a beautiful Buckskin interior, the original Pontiac numbers matching 400 engine and 4 speed transmission, and PHS documents, window sticker, and build sheet. This TA is very solid with great lines and gaps and has no rust issues or bubbling paint anywhere around the car. This TA is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Black over Buckskin vinyl interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured above and the included PHS documents. I drove this TA to 2 car shows this past weekend (9/21 & 22/2024) and this TA earned best domestic car out of 256 registered cars on Saturday and Best Pontiac out of 135 registered cars on Sunday. Its a beautiful car that gets a ton of attention and shows really well in person and at car shows. See car show photo of awards in the gallery. Engine was removed from the car and refreshed with a new cam and lifters new roller rockers and gaskets. Nearly $12,000 was spent on this rebuild and many other addressed maintenance items such as brakes, suspension, radiator, clutch, etc. See included receipts.
Exterior
The Black exterior is in terrific restored condition. This SE TA was treated to a professional repaint and shows very well, looks fresh, and in my opinion looks show quality. The paint is in great condition and both bumpers are in great shape. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires have near full tread left and are sized 225/70/15 and the 15x7 snowflake wheels were are in excellent condition. The tires are reproduction which resemble the original tires that come on these cars and cost over $400 each. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in great condition. Trunk is very solid and clean with the original trunk mat, jack and accessories, inflator bottle, and original Hurst T Top bag. The original jack and lug wrench are still in place. Underside is nice solid shape with no rust concerns. The body and underside are both very solid and there are no rust bubbles anywhere and no cracked paint.
Interior
The Buckskin interior of this SE TA is in excellent overall condition. The seat covers are in like new condition with no major wear, seam splits, or rips or tears. The carpet in in like new condition with no major stains, rips, or holes. The door panels are in excellent condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The dash is in excellent condition with no cracks or fading and the dash bezel is in great condition as well. The original stereo sounds good and front and dash speakers are original and still sound nice. The package tray is like new and not warped. The headliner is like new and all headliner trim is in excellent shape. All exterior lights and gauges work as they should, outside of the clock. The wipers, stereo, cigarette lighter, horn, and blower motor all work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever.
Mechanical
This SE TA is in excellent mechanical condition and very importantly the original Pontiac 400 engine is still in the car with numbers matching. The factory ordered W72 Pontiac 400 engine is the higher horsepower engine and the factory numbers matching 4 speed manual transmission make this the most desired performance package available in 1977. The engine was removed 12 years ago and refreshed with new cam and lifters and roller rockers and new gaskets. The engine was repainted then reinstalled. Carb. was rebuilt. I have driven this TA numerous times around town and it performs well, does not run hot, rides tight, and is a true joy to drive. I have been on the highway with it many times and it drives very well and has great manners on the road. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well. This TA is an great driver that feels good on the road and at highway speeds. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs good. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should and were serviced with a new brake booster and master cylinder. New brake calipers, pads, and hoses were added as well. This TA shifts very well with great response and smooth movement. Clutch was serviced as well. This TA has upgraded Pypes race pro performance exhaust with ram air 3 manifolds which gives it a nice rumble at idle and cruising speeds. A coolant flush was recently done and a new radiator was added. A new starter was added too. New leaf springs and shocks were added which gives this TA a great stance. New spark plug and wires were added and new heater hoses and radiator hoses were added. Also, the engine is meticulously clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. This is a factory non AC car which really cleans up the engine bay area and adds to performance.
