Perhaps one of the finest of the mid-year Indians the fully skirted Fours produced from 1940 to 1942 are perhaps the most coveted of all classic Indians.

This beautiful black 1942 model is one of around 300 produced in its final year of production before WW2 brough most all domestic consumption to an end. This numbers matching 4 was totally rebuilt in 2023 by 4th Coast Fours and is a wonderful example of the Marque. This Chief has travelled about 375 miles since completion and starts just like one would hope- a couple of primer kicks on full choke, cut the choke back to about �, turn on the key and one kick and she's running. Much easier to start then the 2-cylinder Indians of the same period. The 4 with its crankshaft is such a well-balanced engine.

Full skirted fenders, a tank shift transmission, foot clutch, hand throttle and spark advance, it's all part of the allure or a skirted Chief 4.
