Vehicle Description
This custom 1948 Ford Super Deluxe sedan is powered by a Ford 239ci
A/B Flathead V8 engine fully rebuilt with less than 500 miles. The
engine features a jetted and tuned Holley 390 carburetor,
Offenhauser 4-barrel intake manifold, Offenhauser 59A heads, Red's
headers, e-FIRE electronic distributor, Autolite copper
non-resistor spark plugs and a PowerGen 12-volt generator. The
engine is backed by a GM T5 using the GM T5 adapter kit and a
5-speed manual transmission with a new Hi-Torque starter. It
features a rebuilt and powder-coated Ford 9-inch rear axle, along
with a rear shock and leaf spring kit, wishbone splitting kit,
Prodrive custom driveshaft and a drum to disc brake conversion.
This Ford also has all-new brake and fuel lines, an inline fuel
pump and a Royal Kingpin Kit with custom shock towers. Other
features include a new Mojave heater and a 12-volt conversion for
window wipers and dash panel instruments. The owner's father
managed to do a little work to the car and had it painted, but then
stored it in an old barn and didn't take the project any further.
Most of the later work was accomplished by Full Scale Hot Rods and
Custom's in Ventura, CA, including rust removal, body panel
fabrication for areas of body and flooring, along with all fit-up,
welding, body alignment and mechanical reassembly. Both the frame
and the body had a full chemical dip to remove old paint, rust and
road debris. All parts and assemblies were separated prior to the
cleaning process. This car rolls on Coker 600 R16 whitewall tires.
