Vehicle Description
1993 GMC 1500 SLE Sierra Santa Fe Edition 2WD Short Bed Pickup
Custom conversion trucks are always such an interesting thing to
see, it's like a time capsule to the past. Wild paint schemes,
plush leather and wood interiors, lower body cladding and even in
some instances mood lighting added to the cabins. The sky was the
limit on these trucks, with the gamut of the work being performed
by dedicated builders or the dealerships themselves. A customer
could walk into a dealership in Anytown, USA and whip up a hauler
that fit their personalityperfectly.
For consignment a GMC 1500 SLE which could best be described as a
double survivor. Starting life as your everyday 1500 extended cab
SLE pickup, this unit was then customized and turned into a Santa
Fe Edition. This truck is a very original untouched survivor
showing an unbelievable217,782 title verified actual miles on the
odometer. Our consignor kept this rolling work of art in such good
shape with fastidious maintenance, garage kept slumber, and never
driving it on salted roads, thus keeping things looking more akin
to a quarter the displayed mileage.
ExteriorThis truck's sleek two tone look comes from careful
blending of Turquoise Metallic paint that transitions to a lovely
silver on the lowers and remainslooking good despite the miles, a
testament to our consignors diligent care. A chrome grille surround
and chromed front bumper, black chin spoiler and snappy big red GMC
in the grille are flanked by clear plastic Euro style headlights
with marker lights below. Shiny chrome mirrors and blacked out
handles, and 3 spoke American Racing 15-inch wheels set the
pickup's aggressive stance. The laser straight bodywork and clean
paint, save for a few chips and scuffs, means it has always been
someone's special truck. Out back, the bed is topped with a black
vinyl tonneau and is lined with black tough rubber bed liner that
really looks great against the turquoise sides. There's enough real
estate back there to drag away half of Home Depot with you on the
weekends. Other neat touches include the fiberglass encircling the
lowers and forming steps under the doors, slightly tinted windows,
chrome bed rails and polished tip dual exhaust that give the truck
a celebrity disposition that works great.
Interior
The C/K pickups were all fairly plain and straightforward in these
years, so the owner of this '93 kept the factory leather interior
in gray and kept it in very good condition. Flanking a wood trimmed
and cup holder equipped center console, the seats have been covered
in gray leather that shows some bunching and seam separation,
although the bunching may be a correct design as it appears on all
of the seat backs. This color is mirrored on the door panels but
now in cloth and molded plastic along with some wood dress up
around the power lock/window toggles and added courtesy lighting
and gives the cab the upscale feel of a luxury car and the look of
a sports car - and it's all still in great condition. The big stock
steering wheel remains and immediately reminds you that this is a
modern truck, as do the original gauges just beyond it, again
residing in more luxurious lumber. The truck is outfitted with
options like cold A/C, cruise control, a tilt steering column, and
the entertainment system is an AM/FM/Cassette stereo head unit. In
the back, room for at least 3 more which will be seated on a wide
bench stretching from door to door. Breathe it in, right up to the
gray felted headliner that remains in good taught condition.
Drivetrain
Under the hood in a clean but lightly patinedengine bay, sits the
original, 350ci V8. It is putting out a proposed 200hp and is fed
by EFI. A 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission on back. Turning the
tires is a 10 bolt rear axle assembly. Stock style single exhaust
with dual tail pipes and nearly showroom appearance, make for an
always impressive condition.
Undercarriage
The underside is equally as impressive with some factory Turquoise
overspray, and very little if any road dirt or for that matter
rust. Independent coil springs are upfront, and in back are leaf
springs making up the suspension. Power disc brakes are upfront,
and in back are power drums.
Drive-Ability
An excellent driver, fully functional, fully impressive even can go
fully loaded with conveniences options and cargo if you must. Bias
free panic stopping, solid shifting, and smooth acceleration are
just a few of the highlights of this buttoned up '93 example. While
Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at
the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions
will be working at the time of your purchase.
Why pay BIG money for a new truck when you can cruise around from
job to job running this classic which is equally as nice? Well
maintained, rust free and garage kept, this two tone aero designed
truck is ripe for the picking. As the consignor states it needs
nothing, just a new home in your garage.
