My father purchased this car in 1988 and was told that the seller was the original owner. This was my mom's car until her passing in 2005. Her nickname was the SNITZ so that was the license plate i got after mom passed. It had 45,399 miles on it when dad bought it and mom mostly drove it to the golf course during the summer or to the coast (30 miles away) for the day, she had our family car for winter and distance driving. Dad was a CHP officer and added the roll bar because he saw too many accidents with convertibles. He also liked to tinker with cars and removed the smog system to help the car "run better" after he bought it. Dad kept the car until he passed away in 2018 and I inherited it. Since then I have kept her running with annual visits to a mechanic in Sonoma County who specializes in British cars and owns an MG himself. Over the years he has replaced and upgraded the car quite a bit. Recently I realized I can't keep up with the maintenance, as I am not a mechanic, so I asked his advice on a selling price, including the consideration that, to register it in some areas, smog equipment will need to be installed, and as a classic car he estimated that it may cost $ 1500-$2000. He valued the car, based on it's condition, at $ 7,000- $8,000, but I am listing it at $ 5,000 in consideration that it is being sold "AS IS" and without the smog equipment.
The mechanic's evaluation included the fact that the car has an Over Drive feature and includes the vinyl top, sun cover, new CD player system and installed safety Roll Bar. Also the mechanic recently replaced some of the electrical system and generally the runs well. Owner should be familiar with care of classic car.
