Vehicle Description
1953 Chevrolet 3600. I bought this really cool and solid survivor
barn find 53 chevy 3600 3 quarter ton truck to use for advertising
my business. It was from a local farmer. I bought it, brought it
home, and got it running and driving and have been using it around
my local town for advertising my business and driving it around our
farm and to our local trout streams during summer. It was missing
the bed as the previous owner took it off 20 years ago and put on a
short flat bed. The original flatbed wood was rotted away so I
replaced the wood and used it to put stuff on the back and I had
High school kids sit on it to use in short parades/pictures.. This
Chevy truck has a amazing patina and cool survivor look. The truck
runs well. I am running it off a aux tank as the original tank is
dirty and should be cleaned out or replaced. It does run off the
original tank but I saw a lot of dirt in the fuel filter so I
always used a aux tank to be safe. The 4 speed manual shift shifts
all gears and the 216 engine runs great and starts right up. This
is not a restored truck. The tires are older and show weather
check. If you took it to the next level I could see replacing them
as they are pretty old. It has some play when driving 3 rd and 4 th
gear (Watch the video as I have a shot inside driving it). once you
get to use to it it is not too bad etc. It is hard to steer at a
stand still as there is no power steering, but once you go it gets
easier. You can hear it a bit when you turn, it probably needs to
be heated up a bit to make it easier. I left the body original with
original paint. It is a very solid body overall. I saw some rust on
the bottom of the cab corner passenger side. The floors look good.
I saw some rust starting on the inside part above the windshield.
The brakes stop the truck. I usually have to pump them a few times
before I use it. The speedo was not working.
