Vehicle Description
Super clean GMC Caballero. Great colors, one high-quality repaint.
Beautiful original interior loaded with options. Flush-mounted
tonneau cover with bed rails, bedliner and mat. One of the nicest
GM truck/cars we've seen, ready to enjoy! The Caballero was simply
GMC's version of the El Camino and aside from some minor trim
differences, it's identical in every way. That's a good thing,
because the handsome good looks remain firmly in place and this is
one of the nicer Caballeros we've seen. It obviously didn't spend
its life in the north where winters are harsh, because it's
extremely clean top and bottom. A few years ago it was repainted in
its original two-tone blue, a great combination that looks timeless
instead of dated like a lot of its siblings. Correct stripes were
affixed where the two colors meet, and the bodywork underneath is
very nice with no ripples or signs of bondo abuse. Just look down
the flanks and you'll see laser-straight sheetmetal. There's a
beautiful chrome grille up front that might be an NOS piece, and
excellent bumpers that remain shiny and straight. Accessory bed
rails and a flush-mount tonneau cover help with your cargo options,
and the bed itself has a spray-in bed liner and a durable rubber
mat for protection. The dark blue interior is mostly original and
in equally nice condition. We believe the carpets may have been
replaced, but the seats, door panels, and dash pad are factory
original and in amazing condition. Even the crack-prone steering
wheel is 100% intact. A full set of gauges, including a tachometer,
monitors the engine, with other options including cold factory A/C,
power windows and locks, cruise control, remote mirrors, and a tilt
steering column. The original Delco radio is gone, replaced by a
Pioneer AM/FM/CD head unit that's probably a nice improvement over
stock, but that appears to be the lone modification. The seats are
still plush and comfortable, the headliner isn't sagging (a common
problem) and the factory spare is still stashed behind the
passenger's seat. Heavy-duty rubber floor mats protect the carpets
and even the little plastic brackets that hold the seat belts to
the seat backs aren't cracked and broken. Someone really loved this
Caballero!Power comes from GM's reliable 5.0 liter V8?that's 305
cubic inches to you old school guys. It runs properly with easy
starts, a nice idle, and a great low-key personality that makes the
Caballero feel luxurious instead of utilitarian. For the most part,
it's stock, although someone has added a set of long-tube headers
and a mellow-sounding Borla stainless dual exhaust with X-pipe
which probably adds a little power. Otherwise, it remains
completely stock so reliability is uncompromised. The Caballero
also received GM's excellent 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission
with a tall overdrive gear, so this is an outstanding cruiser that
is always relaxed on the highway and actually pulls down decent
fuel economy. The floors underneath are extremely clean and solid
with no rust issues, as are the rockers?this car did not spend its
time in the snow and salt. A standard GM 10-bolt rear end holds up
the back, augmented by a set of air shocks that means the Caballero
can still be used as intended. We believe there are 3.08 gears
inside, a good compromise between eager performance and economy.
Finally, it sits on a set of handsome Rally wheels with a recent
set of 225/70/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials.Original owner's manuals
are included. We're seeing a decent increase in values for GM's
popular truck/cars and it always pays to buy a good one. We've sold
quite a few of these, and this might be the nicest stock example
we've featured. It runs, drives, and stops properly and still
doesn't mind helping out around the homestead on weekends. If a
hobby car can also be practical, the Caballero is it. Call
