Following its launch in 1953, the Corvette matured rapidly over its first generation. After silencing critics' complaints of low performance by introducing a V8 in 1955, GM turned its attention to rectifying handling and other criticisms with a major redesign in 1957. As was typical at the time, the car received yearly styling updates, with 1958 adding quad headlamps, one-year only louvers and "tusks", a new dashboard with instruments repositioned ahead of the driver, and other adjustments.

By 1961, the C2 generation was nearly ready for production. However, rather than let the C1 stagnate, GM yet again brought a raft of styling updates, this time with the rear-end styling with a dramatic “boat tail” design that nicely foreshadowed the styling of the upcoming car. In addition, the transmission tunnel was reduced in size, allowing for more interior space. All told, the 1961 Corvette, especially with one of the high-performance variations of its 283ci V8, offers a unique driving experience versus the cars that came before and after.

The spectacular 1961 Chevrolet Corvette 283/315hp 'Fuel-Injected' Roadster featured here is finished in classic Honduras Maroon with Ermine White coves over a Fawn Beige interior and with a White folding convertible top and body color removable hardtop. Equipped with the most potent engine option available in 1961, this exquisite fuel-injected Corvette was recently released from a world-class, Corvette-focused collection and is now ready for its next caretaker. Subject to a award-winning restoration with no expense spared, this Corvette was rewarded with an incredible NCRS score of 99.5. With a matching numbers engine and award-winning restoration in its gorgeous factory color combination, this Corvette is the perfect example to add to any premier collection. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the very best at an investment price!
