Vehicle Description
This 1956 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is a "Lowlight" example powered
by a 1835cc flat-4 engine paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle
and fitted with a replacement 1967 chassis. Subsequent work
consisted of overhauling the braking system, repainting the body in
Metallic Blue and retrimming the interior in red vinyl upholstery.
This example includes an adjustable front beam and rear spring
plates, front disc brakes, dual exhaust outlets and a front sway
bar. The exterior features chrome-finished bumpers and a roof rack.
The chrome has been replated and the seals, door glass and
quarter-windows have been replaced as well. In addition to these
modifications, it also had a fresh Competition Engineering tuneup
performed. This example rides on 15-inch steel wheels wrapped in
Coker Classic whitewall tires. The cabin features seats
reupholstered in red vinyl and color-coordinated door panels
sourced from West Coast Classic Interiors. Contrasting beige
square-weave carpets are fitted, and additional equipment includes
a roller-style accelerator pedal, a glove compartment, front lap
belts and door pockets. An ivory-colored steering wheel wears an
aftermarket center cap and frames a replacement VDO instrumentation
consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer and a fuel-level
gauge, all next to a Philips radio. This example is said to have
been imported from the U.S. to Canada in 1988. **TITLED AS 1956
