Vehicle Description
2021 Chevrolet Corvette 3LT Coupe
Pretty much everyone who cares about the automotive industry knows
that the 2020 C8 Corvette is the first in the history of the
legendary sports car to have the engine mounted behind the driver.
Many of those same people know that the first man to envision a
Corvette with the engine mounted towards the rear of the vehicle
was Zora Arkus-Duntov. "Zora", as he is better known today, helped
the Corvette gain its early popularity, pushing for stronger V8
engines, promoting motorsports programs and transforming the car in
ways that attracted buyers. Sadly, Zora passed away in 1996, well
before the C8 Corvette was anywhere near the first stages of
development, so he never got to see his vision come to life.
However, his role in the evolutionary change of the Corvette over
the years is not lost on the current design team. His likeness was
included on the first test car to be shown in New York City.
Although the theory is that mid-engine configuration has handling
advantages, which is true, it also offers straight line performance
benefits. The reason is weight distribution. Under hard
acceleration, weight naturally shifts towards the rear wheels,
which explains how it's easy to chirp the tires on a front wheel
drive car. The same effect is an advantage for mid-engine cars as
weight is on the drive wheels. Now you may ask why I'm boring you
with technical nonsense, the answer is simple...Here at the Classic
Auto Mall we never know what's going to roll through the doors
next, and on this particular day it was our 3rd C8 Zora Corvette
we've had. For consignment and your viewing pleasure, a mid-engine
2021 Vette decked out with the 3LT package, sporting a mere 21,954
title verified careful and cautious miles, this mid-engine work of
modern art drenched in silver and carbon fiber is barely broken
in.
Exterior
You could get a 2021 C8 in 12 colors and our consignor opted for
Silver Flare Metallic. With its 3LT trim and is an absolute stunner
that looks like it's going 100mph just standing still. The engine's
repositioning required a stronger focus on stark aerodynamics and
cooling, and the resulting front fascia, side scoops with air
intakes, and rear vents out back below the taillights all work to
that end. The multiple carbon fiber packages punch up the C8's
styling with a carbon fiber grille, mirror caps, removable roof.
Carbon Flash outside mirrors, stinger stripe and fender hash marks,
both with red accenting and black composite rockers give the car an
even more aggressive look, if that's possible. Of course, as a new
car, it's in showroom fresh condition with impeccable paint,
perfect factory gaps, and not a mark on the slick finish. There's
Xpel coating on the front of the car and Gyeon Ceramic on the
entire car including wheels and interior. The highest praise we can
pay any car is that it looks like it just rolled out of the
factory, and in this Corvette's case, that's completely true! You
won't be able to get the full effect of this car from the photos
but spend some time looking it over and you'll really dig all the
little details, from the cool badges to the chin spoiler, to the
oversized exhaust tips at the flanks of the slick black rear
diffuser, and you get the impression that there's nothing on this
car that doesn't serve the purpose of going fast. $7,000 of Savini
wheels that are custom painted to match the silver and red colors
on the car, are included with your purchase and work with the
mandated high performance tires. The optional black Corvette wheels
on the car have Michelin high performance tires. Also included are
the factory silver wheels with all season tires. (Bring a truck,
that's 12 wheels and 8 tires total)
Interior
Corvette fans have been asking and the design engineers listened. A
full-on redesign that outshines any previous version of the Vette
is seen within the supercar cabin. Striking Adrenaline Red leather
mixes with black on the door panels and is highlighted by red
stitching. Various toggles and buttons are seen for a litany of
controls. Moving inside, more Adrenaline Red covers the GT2 form
fitting bucket seats which provide comfort for long drives as well
as any track day excursions. A F-1 inspired steering wheel with the
ironic crossed flags and multiple control buttons fronts the paddle
shifters and fully digital dash. A full on 8" touchscreen
Infotainment system is just to the drivers right and provides
navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, a rear view camera, navigation, and
audio options galore. An Adrenaline Red and black center console
swoops up to meet the dash and holds the gear selector buttons as
well as the manual shift mode toggle and hidden under a Corvette
logoed fold down is the dial for the magnetic selective ride
control. We note a spattering of carbon fiber accenting throughout
the interior, which coincides with the window sticker options.
Clean black carpet floods the floors and presents as new, as does
the entire interior because, well it almost is!
Drivetrain
A flip open of the rear body reveals the all aluminum 6.2 Liter LT2
V8 which makes a stunning 495hp. This engine benefits from the
optional engine cover in Edge Red and the optional engine
appearance package. This work of automotive art is bolted to an
8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Putting the power to
the pavement is a 5.17 geared rear axle with an electronic limited
slip unit. All looking more Koenigsegg Jesko than Corvette under
the long rear hood.
Undercarriage
Up in the air we see a litany of aerodynamic pans to keep air
moving smoothly under this domestic supercar. High performance
independent short/long arm suspension is seen both front and rear
and the high performance 4-wheel disc brake package is noted with
their bright red painted brake calipers. The window sticker notes
that this car is equipped with the optional front lift height
memory box checked. High performance factory exhaust is also on for
a perfect symphony of exhale.
Drive-Ability
As with all of the low mileage vehicles that grace our halls, we
kept the test drive short to not diminish value. A perfect seating
position is easily attainable for drivers of any stature and the
bevy of available bells and whistles on the various screens is
enough to send even the most tech savvy to Valhalla. During our
short drive we experienced lightning fast acceleration, F-1
car-like handling and braking that will embarrass cars 3 times the
cost. All functions were operational during our drive, and we were
left with a gleaming smile from this domestic mid-engine beast.
While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were
working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these
functions will be working at the time of your purchase. The car
does come with a transferrable extended warranty.
The new and used car market is crazy these days with shortages and
prices through the roof even for the most basic of transportation.
You'd better hurry so you too can be part of the Corvette elite as
this 3LT model won't last long. I wonder how I would look in full
race regalia piloting this C8 around Nuremberg.....hmmmmm
