Manufacture completed by Ferrari, April 1969, this 365 GT 2+2 was
exported, July 1969 to the United States and famed Ferrari U.S.
West Coast distributor, William F. Harrah's Modern Classic Motors
MCM, Reno, Nevada, USA. A rare factory sunroof was specially
ordered-commissioned by Mr. Harrah. It is unknown whether this
occurred in Italy or whether it was installed when it arrived in
the USA. The workmanship is as per factory, thus, the thought seems
to be it's being fabricated by Italian artisans of the automobile
era while in Italy and prior to its import to the USA. It is
believed due to the special ordered color as well as sunroof, this
365 was used as Mr. Harrah's personal transport until being sold to
its first registered owner, a Los Angeles private owner who seems
to have kept the 365 through 1979.
In 1979, this 365 was sold to another Los Angeles resident who went
on to keep this 365 through 1998. At this point in time, this 365
was sold to Mr. Fahimian, another resident of Los Angeles. While in
Mr. Fahimian's ownership, this 365 was serviced by well-respected
Ferrari specialist, Steven Tillack & Co., Redondo Beach,
California. August 2002 saw the 365 being advertised by Fahimian,
"original fly yellow with black interior, rare sunroof, new paint,
interior and service, all new shocks, springs and bushings, new
Ansa exhaust and clutch, re-chromed Borrani wire wheels, new
cooling system, original tools and books, 54'000 miles. In February
of 2005 while still in Fahimian's ownership, a pre-purchase
inspected was performed by another well-known and respected Ferrari
specialist, Norbert Hofer's Gran Touring Classics, Inc. facility,
Long Beach, CA. Presumably, the PPI was performed on behalf of Mr.
J. Walker, the Ferrari showing 56,000 miles at the time because it
was then transported to the East Coast and Mr. J. Walker's new
ownership and home in Ann Arbor, MI.
While in Mr. Walker's ownership, the 365 was serviced by Ferrari
specialist Terry Myr, Smith Creek, MI. Mr. Myr overhauled the
engine and front suspension for Mr. Walker. When completed, Mr.
Walker started his long term and the start of this 365's Ferrari
Owner's Club concours career. While in Mr. Walker's ownership, this
365 was shown at the following events.
-July 2005, the 42nd Annual Ferrari Club of America National
Meeting in Indianapolis, IN.
-August 2007, the 44th Annual Ferrari Club of America National
Meeting at Watkins Glen-Corning, NY, winner of a Gold Award.
-2007, shown by Walker at the Rolling Sculpture Car Show in Ann
Arbor, MI.
-May 2008, shown by Walker at the Points and Condenser Preservation
Society Run at the Michigan International Speedway.
-July 2008, shown by Walker at the 45th Annual Ferrari Club of
America National meeting, Mosport, Toronto, Canada.
-2009, shown by Walker at the Eyes of Design event held at the
Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, Grosse Point Shores, MI, winner of the
Design of Distinction Red Ribbon Award.
August 2011, shows this 365 still in the ownership of Mr. Walker.
May 2014 whos the 365 being offered at the Worldwide Auctioneers
Houston Classic Auction, Houston, TX. Subsequently sold to its most
recent collector ownership and where it has remained until its
recent purchase by Autosport Designs, Inc.
In excellent condition throughout, well serviced and cared for,
this 365 GT 2+2 is not only rare due to its color combination and
rare sunroof, ownership and service histories, but must also be
considered one of the best driving and performing four-seater
Ferraris of all time given its V12 powerplant, power steering, air
conditioning and four usable seats. Sorted and ready for immediate
use, in our opinion., this is one of the finest V12 touring
Ferraris as valued in today's Ferrari marketplace.
