Unique 1939 Pontiac Model 2519 Touring 4-Door Sedan – A Genuine Historical Gem

On behalf of the current owner in Sweden, we are proud to offer this exceptional 1939 Pontiac Model 2519 Touring 4-Door Sedan to the global market. This time-honored vehicle, built and sold new in Sweden, is not just a collector's item but a living piece of Swedish military history.

A Car with a Fascinating Story

Purchased new in Sweden in 1939, this Pontiac was quickly requisitioned for military service. The original red paint was replaced with a robust military green, and the car served faithfully until 1946 before returning to its first owner. During the 2002-2019 restoration, the historical green color was retained, and the car now sports a stylish two-tone paint that preserves its military heritage.

Details and Condition

  • Color: Two-tone green
  • Interior: Gray, in excellent condition with minor nicks
  • Dashboard: Artistically wood-grained by a professional, adding a touch of elegance to the interior
  • Engine: 6-cylinder, 85 hp, fully restored with no noise or blue smoke. There are some dark spots on top of the engine due to a burned ignition coil from charging while the ignition key was turned on. The coil has been replaced.
  • Transmission: 3-speed manual, functional but with minor wear
  • Rear Axle: Original, functioning perfectly with no noise
  • Driveshaft: Aligned and balanced
  • Front Suspension: New bushings, slight pull to the right
  • Leaf Springs: In excellent condition with functional shock absorption
  • Brakes: Original drum brakes, in good condition
  • Tires: Radial, in like-new condition
  • Body: Excellent condition, professionally repaired, with some minor surface rust
  • Paint: Repainted in 2015, in good condition with minor dust spots and stone chips – all documented in photos
  • Glass: Impeccable, free of scratches or discoloration
  • Chrome and Trim: In excellent condition, contributing to the car’s overall polished look
  • Rubber Seals: Replaced, though the vent windows are difficult to open

This Pontiac remains largely in original condition and has had six previous owners. It was inspected and approved in Sweden in 2019 and is exempt from future inspections. Since its restoration, the car has been driven sparingly, only about 100 km per year (approximately 62 miles).

Electrical and Functional Overview

  • Electrical System: Upgraded from 6 volts to 12 volts
  • Turn Signals: Functional, featuring charming retractable arrows, but the bulbs need to be upgraded to 12 volts
  • Wipers: Fully operational
  • Lights: All lights function correctly
  • Horn: In working order
  • Interior Dome Light: Currently not working
  • Searchlight: Assembly is intact but needs to be hooked up
  • Fan: Intact but needs minor fixing, likely the switch
  • Gauges: Original and refurbished, except for the fuel gauge which requires a new sender
  • Sun Visor: Missing a small cover plate on the driver’s side

Additional Details

  • Undercarriage: Overall in very good condition, with some minor surface rust shown in the photos
  • Heater: Disconnected due to a leak, needs repair
  • Handbrake: Needs adjustment due to a misfitting cable clamp
  • Luggage Compartment: Clean and in good condition, though missing a cover plate on the back of the seat
  • Spare Tire: Included, but the rim is uneven
