Vehicle Description
2006 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
In 1953, when GM executives were looking to name the new Chevrolet
sports car, assistant director for the Public Relations department
Myron Scott suggested Corvette after the small maneuverable
warship, and the name was approved. The first model, a convertible,
was introduced at the GM Motorama in 1953 as a concept and was
followed ten years later by the 1963 second generation, in coupe
and convertible styles. Originally manufactured in Flint, Michigan,
as well as St. Louis, Missouri, the Corvette has been manufactured
since 1981 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Corvette has since
become widely known as "America's Sports Car." Automotive News said
that after 'starring' in the early 1960s television show Route 66,
the Corvette became synonymous with freedom and adventure,"
ultimately becoming both "the most successful concept car in
history and the most popular sports car in history".
For consignment, a 2006 Corvette C6 version and with the exception
of the Borla exhaust system and custom wheels,(fret not as the
original wheels and tires are included with your purchase), an all
original, garage kept and covered car with a low 18,723 title
verified actual miles. 1 Of 571 built in Daytona Sunrise Orange for
the exterior, and let's take the lap to celebrate our victory!
Throw in a sexy Cashmere leather interior, a beige soft top, and we
are going to steer this nimble warship down a curved back road and
see what she does.
Exterior
Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic bathes the fiberglass on this
beautiful factory C6. Clean integrated plastic covered headlights
are on to give the car a more menacing and aero look. A Corvette
cove is there on the front quarter, right out of 1954. A
beautifully sculpted hood is on and flips forward to reveal the
engine bay. Noted on top is a beige canvas convertible top complete
with a glass rear window. Out back are the iconic round taillights
and a cluster of quad exhaust tips sounding out of the center of
the rear of this car. 19 and 20-inch custom multi-spoke wheels with
low profile rubber surrounding them, and let's go do some carving
of curves. When the top is down a nicely dual eyebrow curved
fiberglass tonneau tucks the top in and conforms to the seat backs.
As an added bonus there is a custom fit car cover that comes along
with your purchase.
Interior
A swing of the doors and we are bowled over by Cashmere and black
molded panels which have door pulls that also house the power
windows, mirrors and locks. A large Bose speaker is on the inside
tucked into the door panel. Planting ourselves into the high back
Cashmere leather buckets, we are taken and pushed firmly into the
cockpit, ready for the take off! We do note some wear on the
driver's outer bolster caused by entrance and exit of the car. With
your posterior firmly in the driver's seat you can grab on to the
ergonomically designed steering wheel which is wrapped in black
leather with stitching and peer into the gauge cluster which is all
black with white LED backlit analog displays with red pointers. In
the center of the dash is mounted the factory AM/FM/CD player.
Below is a temp controller with digital display as well as a
storage cubby. The lower console houses the shift lever and
anti-skid push button. Also, the handbrake and a nifty console
mounted glovebox. Clean tan carpet for the floors all clean and
ready to rub your toes into.
Drivetrain
An original 6.0 Liter LS V8 can put out 400 horses and resides
under the forward flipping hood. It has EFI and a TR6060 6-speed
manual transmission with a short throw shifter. All looking very
clean under the sculpted hood. On the back is a 3.42 limited slip
rear axle.
Undercarriage
Rust free and all covered up with ground effects panels, we can
note C6 suspension on front and rear, as well as power disc brakes
all around, and an added Borla stainless steel exhaust system.
Drive-Ability
Top down, spirits up, and foot to the floor, (well, not right
away), it was off to the test track. This car has great
acceleration, handles like it's on rails, and stops on a dime. All
the functions were working just fine and rowing the gears made me
feel a bit like Oliver Gavin tearing it up around Road America.
While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were
working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these
functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
A touch of originality, low mileage and very well maintained. All
looking perfectly wrapped up sans the bow. A convertible, a great
sound system, and the throaty exhaust sounds good and plays a nice
tune too!
