1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Vehicle Description

Chassis No. WP0AA2992TS322677

The Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, introduced during the 993-generation (1994-1998), marked the end of the air-cooled era. This model combined the wider bodywork of the Turbo with a naturally aspirated, 282-horsepower engine and all-wheel-drive, delivering both style and practicality. Additionally, the C4S featured wider "Turbo-look" 18 inch cast alloy wheels with wider tires and larger Turbo brakes with distinctive red Turbo calipers in addition to Turbo suspension components. Enthusiasts praised the timeless appeal of its sleek design, enhanced by a lower stance and wider body with enhanced performance than the standard Carrera. The all-wheel-drive system improved traction and handling, particularly on slippery surfaces, making it a technologically advanced feature for its time. As one of the last Porsche models powered by the iconic air-cooled flat-six, the Carrera 4S hit a sweet spot for many Porsche fans.

Finished in Grand Prix White with a Black partial leather interior, this example was additionally optioned with heated, eight-way power adjustable front seats, cruise control, a power sunroof, and the Becker-Porsche CDR-210 stereo. Originally delivered in Kansas, the car was retained by the original owner, who later relocated to California, until 2000. The car was acquired by its second owner in January of that year with just under 17,000 miles. The clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report shows the car was sold in 2008 to the next owner, with whom the car saw limited use, with regular servicing noted to have been completed by Prestige Autohaus in Walnut Creek, California and Eason Auto of Oakland, California. Shortly after acquiring the car, the new owner completed the 15,000 and 30,000 mile services, replacing the fluids, brakes, rotors, and tires, repairing engine and transmission leaks, and treating the car to a complete detail with invoices totaling more than $13,650 between April 2008 and January 2010. This was followed by another major service in November 2010 for nearly $5,000 that included new engine oil, transmission oil, brake fluid, differential oils, a timing adjustment, and fuel injector service at 32,435 miles. Just nine months later, at 32,541 miles, the cylinder head gaskets, lifters, and exhaust manifold gaskets were replaced for over $7,000, shortly after which, the car was placed into storage until 2022. Following its hibernation, it was recommissioned with new Continental tires, fluids including oil, transmission, differential and brake fluids, all filters, battery, and hood shocks in July 2022 at 32,604 miles, and later finding a home with its fourth and current owner in July 2023. In September 2024, the car received a fresh service with new oil, filter, and brake fluids in preparation for the sale.

Today, this highly sought-after air-cooled 911 remains in exceptional condition and is offered with just under 32,800 miles at the time of cataloging. Having spent much of its life in a dry California climate, and in a climate controlled storage where the current owner drove less than 80 miles since purchase, this collectible, low mileage 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S is ready to provide the same thrilling feel and soundtrack as it did when new, just as the engineers who designed the car intended.
