WOW! Here we have something you don't see everyday. A Challenger from the year 1972. Purchased by it's second and most current owner back in 1985 from the original owner! A two owner car!
Originally a 340 car with a 'Pistol Grip' FOUR SPEED MANUAL transmission. The 340 was replaced by the original owner with a late 1960's vintage 440! The 440 was built with a racing cam and headers. Speed was definitely the goal! The car was also lightly restored during the 1980's using it's original 'Top Banana Yellow' color. The original black bucket seat interior was also freshened and has held up amazingly well. No butchered panels and even sporting it's original AM/FM factory stereo. The black vinyl roof is also factory correct and in fantastic condition but does show some bubbling underneath (see pics).
So what we have here is a very original car in many ways but with an older restoration showing it's age. The paint shined up beautifully with not a lot of effort and it's correct emblems and Rallye stripes are in terrific condition. EXTREMELY little body filler and 98 percent of the car passed the magnet test. Failed at very lower 1/4's behind both rear wheels and at a section of the upper right 1/4 panel that appears to have been a dent repair and not corrosion. The undercarriage is surprisingly VERY clean and impressive. Just some small scale and old, original undercoating. Some detailing would go a long way. Lowe 1/4 panels have some corrosion starting but nothing obnoxious.
How do we know so much about how this car was built when new? Well we have the original window sticker and build sheet! This was a special ordered car from North Dakota per it's sticker.
So restore it or give it the TLC it needs and drive it as is! This car was in storage for the past 4-5 years and it's now running thanks to a new carburator, brake master cylinder and front calipers. It still needs some love before regular use. There is TONS of potential in this one, folks!
