Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is pleased to present this 1989 Jeep Grand
Wagoneer. These 89-91 Wagoneers are considered the "best of the
breed" and this running driving project example has tons of
potential for a very reasonable price. Back in 2016/2017, this Jeep
was the recipient of almost $140K in restoration work at a shop in
central Ohio, then its owner fell ill, tucked the vehicle away in a
barn, and passed away. Unfortunately, the barn was a less than
hospitable storage environment and the Jeep was in there for about
7 years. Consequently, this Wagoneer has acquired some underbody
surface corrosion, and some rust on both rear quarters and the
rockers, and some of the options no longer work as they should.
That said, this Jeep still has many positive qualities and could be
a stunning example again with a modest amount of work. This
Wagoneer comes to us with a nice driver-quality white paint job and
newer woodgrain decals and border trim. Up front is a bright
horizontal grille that is starting to show a little age from
storage, a gray-painted bumper, and fog lights. The side view
showcases the woodgrain decals that are still in relatively good
condition, bright window trim, dual side mirrors, and the iconic
ribbed roofline with luggage rack. The white body and woodgrain
panels make for an eye-catching combination. The Jeep sits atop
factory aluminum alloy wheels with Jeep center caps wrapped in
Yokohama Geolandar H/T tires. Around the back, you'll find another
silver bumper with a tow hitch receiver underneath, a working power
rear window with a wiper and defrost, and a fold-down tailgate.
Under the hood is what we believe to be the original 5.9 liter V-8
dressed in blue and topped with blue valve covers and a blue
intake. Above the intake is an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and an
Edelbrock chrome air cleaner. Other items of note in the engine bay
include power steering, power brakes (disc/drum combo), a newer
radiator, and air conditioning (hooked up, but the clutch does not
engage when turned on). The V-8 is mated up to a 3-speed automatic
transmission and is equipped with 4-wheel drive which is currently
inoperable.
Open the driver's door to find a very nice-looking burgundy
interior illuminated by working courtesy lights. The OEM-style door
panels are in good condition and feature power windows, locks, and
mirrors. The front windows operate as they should, but the two rear
windows are slow and frequently need assistance to go up and down.
Both door armrests have small flaws - the wood trim piece is
missing from the driver's side and is falling off of the passenger
side. The front seats are fantastic, with burgundy leather that
looks like new. Both front seats are power adjustable but one of
the switches on the driver's side is inoperable. Between the seats
is a "buddy" seat that offers room for an extra front passenger or
a fold-down armrest for the driver. The rear seating is just as
nice, with ample room for 3 passengers. Like the seats, the
burgundy carpet is in excellent condition and it's topped with
carpeted factory logo floormats. The vinyl dash pad is crack-free
and in very good condition, but the woodgrain finish accents on the
dash look faded. The OEM steering wheel looks original and it is
affixed to a tilt column that also offers controls for cruise
control (untested) and intermittent wipers. The steering wheel
frames a factory gauge cluster that includes fuel, temp, battery,
and oil as well as a 100mph speedometer and digital clock. The
climate controls for heat, fan, and direction all work as they
should, but as previously mentioned the A/C does not blow cold. The
factory radio has been replaced by a Clarion VZ401 touch-screen
AM/FM/CD/BT stereo that works and sounds great. Overhead you'll
find a tight burgundy felt headliner and a console with map lights,
an outside temperature sensor compass (inop.), and a sunglass
storage compartment.
The timeless style of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer made it a hot seller
when it was new and has continued to maintain an enthusiastic fan
base ever since. This Wagoneer has a great color combination and is
an excellent candidate for further restoration, with a lot of the
hard work done already. You can get in this Jeep and drive it today
and we've priced it low enough to leave room for future
improvements without breaking the bank. Give us a call today and
don't let this opportunity pass you by!
