For sale is a beautifully restored 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible,
originally from Florida and fully restored in 2008, with extensive
receipts and documentation available. After arriving in New York in
2023, this iconic muscle car has retained its stunning condition,
thanks to the meticulous restoration process it underwent over a
decade ago.
The body of the car was stripped down and media blastedplastic
media for the exterior and aluminum oxide for the interior and
underside. The entire vehicle was then sealed with primer and
painted in a breathtaking metallic blue finish, with the paint
match code included in the restoration receipts. The frame was
powder-coated for long-lasting durability.
Mechanically, the GTO boasts a rebuilt 400 cubic inch V8 engine,
featuring new internals, including an oil pump, rings, rods,
bearings, and a camshaft. The power is managed by a rebuilt TH400
automatic transmission, which also received a new flywheel.
Performance upgrades include ceramic competition headers from Jegs
with 1.625" tubes, a fast ratio steering box, and a new full-tilt
steering column. The car is equipped with modern air conditioning
components, including a new condenser, evaporator, hoses, blower
motor, and switch, making it comfortable for summer cruising.
Underneath, this GTO received a full suspension overhaul with new
bushings, ball joints, tie rods, and control arms, both upper and
lower. New gas shocks and coil springs provide a smooth and
controlled ride, while the Auburn Gear carrier with a 3.55 gear
ratio enhances performance. A front disc brake conversion was added
for better stopping power. The rear end housing, drum backing
plates, and transmission cross-member were powder-coated, adding to
the vehicle?s durability. Additional new components include a fuel
tank, fuel sending unit, fuel lines, brake hoses, and brake
lines.
The interior was fully replaced and refinished to factory
standards, including a new wiring harness and ignitor kit. The
gauges were calibrated, with the speedometer rebuilt and gauge
clusters refaced. The quartz clock was polished, along with the
lenses, and the bezels were re-chromed. The console was repainted,
the floor replaced, and all filler panels, trim panels, insulation,
carpeting, and weather stripping were installed new. The seat
cushions and upholstery were restored to provide a fresh,
comfortable interior, and bumpers were added for all contact areas,
including the hood, trunk, and fuel doors.
This car comes with a large folder of receipts documenting the
extensive restoration work, as well as a service manual, making
this GTO not only a powerful and stylish classic but also a
well-documented and carefully preserved piece of automotive
history.
