Vehicle Description
2008 Aston Martin Vantage V8 Convertible
"The rear-wheel-drive V8 Vantage combines traditional Aston Martin
virtues, elegantly swoopy sheet metal and an isn't that James Bond
persona, with dynamic elements that are wholly contemporary,
yielding the first Aston in recent memory that seems capable of
competing with the perennial benchmark of the supercar wannabe
class, the Porsche 911." Car and Driver, July 2007
For consignment, a 2008 Aston Martin Vantage V8 convertible with a
title verified 13,209 actual miles. With the hand built V8,Vantages
were produced from 2005 to 2017 and received numerous accolades
including best production design, an Automobile magazine "All Star"
award, and Jeremy Clarkson said the Vantage V8 was the best
sounding and coolest car of the year in its inaugural release.
Service records will accompany this car.
Exterior
A spectacular grade of two state Mercury Silver Metallic coats this
roadster, one of just a few thousand produced in 2008. Aston's work
of art begins at the characteristic grille opening, like none
other, although occasional pretenders borrow the design, (we see
you, Ford Fusion!). The wide gaping grille seems to contour to the
oblong headlights which fit flush to the corners and begin the
rounded hips that flank a low, flat hood sporting a pair of mesh
covered hood vents. In profile, it's wedged shaped but with rounded
edges, smooth as a river rock and mildly aggressive with a slightly
upturned and integrated wing in back and fender vents that
seemingly point forward. The wonderfully wide tail features
perfectly flush tail lights with color keyed inserts, dual exhaust
in the rear valance, and a rear splitter between them. There's a
supercar-like rake to the windshield designed to duck under the
wind with top up or top down. The canvas top and glass rear window
are in great shape, the panel gaps are impeccable, and the only
exterior flaw noted are some scuffs under the chin.
Interior
Okay, deep breath. We're about to enter one of the best interiors
in the car world and this one is covered in Sahara Tan leather.
That includes the entire door panels, not just an insert or
armrest, the entire panel. There is a black detail that houses the
opener and a matching switch panel and speaker, but the rest is
finely stitched padded leather. The tall bucket seats are smoothly
covered in hide and fit like a glove against the sculpted rear wall
and color keyed fairings form soft mounds behind them. The sport
steering wheel fronts another work of art, the gauge cluster in a
brushed aluminum backing with shades of gray, silver, and white
adorning the gauges. Leather engulfs the dash and makes room in the
center stack for switchgear that controls the AM/FM/CD radio, the
climate controls, and other functions with quality materials, and a
screen pops up from the top of the stack for navigation. More
leather and metal in the center console and the gaps, as in the
rest of the interior, are ideal. Plush gray carpet is protected by
fitted Aston carpeted mats and the small trunk is completely coated
in the plush stuff as well.
Drivetrain
Open the hood to find a large front cover and prominent aluminum
braces over the 4.3 liter DOHC V8, fuel injected and rated at 380
horsepower. A 6-speed automatic transmission features Graziano
SportShift with paddles and drives power to the rear axle with 3.91
gears and limited slip. At this level, power disc brakes are found
on all four wheels.
Undercarriage
Wind be damned as the clean underside is replete with flat belly
pans. No grease, no dripping oil, no surface rust. The dual exhaust
flows from factory headers to original mufflers before singing
their song out back and independent suspension is supplied in front
and back.
Drive-Ability
A+ in every way. The ride, the acceleration, handling, and the
buttery smooth interior makes for an experience we want to go one
forever. But our time is short, and so is this track. Everything
worked as it should, including this car's ability to seduce us into
buying extra lottery tickets tonight. Open the top, I need a
cigarette, (no worries, we did not smoke in the car). While Classic
Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time
of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be
working at the time of your purchase.
Hagerty said it best in 2021: "A real jewel of a car, every drive
in a V8 Vantage is an event and the ownership experience is superb.
It offers a truly unique combination of sportiness, elegance,
performance, aesthetics, craftsmanship, build quality, and
reliability. Involving, tactile, and characterful, they are great
to drive fast, and to drive not fast. A V8 Vantage looks and feels
every dollar of its cost. At today's prices, the value for money is
off the charts."
