1968 Dodge Charger- Pro Touring
This is a 1968 Dodge Charger that we are putting up for sale. We have owned this car from 2005 until present day. As you will read from the following information, there was a lot of attention given to this car. Personally, I came from a racing background so there was a lot of that experience and feel put into the car. This car has an amazing balance between performance and comfort. We wanted to be able to open it up, perform, but also take a nice drive with no reliability issues.
There was considerable time put into the engine build in combination with the gear selection and finally the overdrive unit. This is RB .030” 446 cubic inch with pocket ported aluminum heads, roller rockers, H-beam rods and racing pistons. The power is precise and bold utilizing multi-port EFI and a 1350cfm throttle body as a catalyst for that big block grunt. The camshaft and compression ratio of 11:1 put it right on the edge of 93 pump gas. No worries as the timing, fuel ratios, and ignition are set up for that situation. This will be fed thru a built 727 torqueflight, Gear Vendors Overdrive, and finally to the sure-grip 3.23 rear end.
The suspension and chassis have been balanced and tuned for whatever you ask of it. Big sway bars, big torsion bars and low stance make for an inspiring great handling car. You will have the ability to adjust if needed as you have double adjustable QA1 shocks all around. The chassis is the QA1 tubular unit up front, Stage II Firm Feel steering box and Hotchkis parts to help give it that quick nimble feel.
You will enjoy the amazing stopping ability on par with some of the top performing cars. Starting with the Hydratech Hydroboost system supplying the Viper inspired Brembo front brake system and into the Wilwood rear system. The front brakes will be supported by a custom ducted cooling system integrated in the front air dam. All adjustable with a driver accessible rear proportioning valve.
As you hop inside the car you notice that the original feel of the interior is not completely gone. The centerpiece will be the custom one-piece metal formed center console. This captures your shifter, O/D on-off along with other accessories for a comfortable experience. The Sparco seats work with the one-off tank plate and harness bar system built for this car. If you choose to track or autocross, you will have the benefit of being strapped in with a 6-point harness. If you chose to just spend some time driving, the harness comes out in 5 minutes for easy rear seat access. All part of the design. Other amenities included gauges to monitor performance and your EFI console for tuning. Your Turbo Action shifter is set up for easy use with the auto/ manual forward pattern set-up. You will also notice all your indicator lights for Oil pressure and overdrive engagement.
Put this all to the pavement thru your Budnik Shock wheels and Michelin Super Sport tires. Custom ordered for a perfect fit on this chassis.
It goes without saying the 1968 Charger is a beautiful car. The only problem that’s come with the car is all the attention and crowds it gathers whenever it is taken out. What is not seen is how long it takes to make something perform at a high level and be reliable. The countless hours of development that not everyone has the knowledge or time to get done. That is all been taken care of, and this car is completely sorted out. Note that this car was featured in Popular Hot Rodding several times and has had features in other media outlets as well. Please read on thru the list of components that this car has been prepped with.
