Vehicle Description
"The TF has now become one of the most collectible and desirable
models of the MG family. MG planned on delivering the new and more
powerful MGA by 1955, but its development was still dragging on.
MG's wise decision was to put the new and more powerful 1500 cc
engine designed for the "A" into the "TF." So the MG TF "1500" was
introduced at the end of 1954. Just 3,400 of these cars were built
and the TF "1500" has become very collectible today."-stableltd
This 1955 MG TF remained under the same ownership from 1955 to June
of 2002. During that period, the TF was taken off the road in 1972
and stored inside. In July of 2002, this MG underwent an extensive
restoration over the following 7 months. The MG TF was taken off
the frame, stripped of all its paint and was cosmetically and
mechanically restored. Spending most of its early life in the
California Bay Area, the MG's body was free of rust and still
maintains its original wood. Photos of the complete restoration are
available.
Subsequently relocated to Canada in 2015 the MG TF was sold again
in 2023 and was back in the United States. The most recent repairs
on this MG have been replacing the front wheel cylinders and the
addition of windshield-mounted side mirrors.
The red exterior paint and red leather upholstery on this MG TF
show very well with only signs of light wear. The banjo-style
steering wheel and Jaeger gauges are also in particularly good
condition as would be expected for a car that underwent a quality
restoration with only 22,155 original miles. All gauges with the
exception of the inset clock appear to be working as intended.
The silver finished wheels are accented with chrome plated center
caps and surrounded by Michelin ZX tires. The red paint shows off
well against the tan top and side curtains which are again in very
good condition. The underside of this TF remains exceptionally
clean with the added benefit of a stainless-steel exhaust.
Turn the key and listen for the tick of the fuel pump, set the
choke, and pull the starter knob and the XPEG 1500cc engine comes
to life with a smooth idle. Soon you will be enjoying the motoring
characteristics of a classic British Sports Car.
