Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this
classic 1959 Willys Jeep CJ5, a true icon of American automotive
history. The Jeep CJ-5 emerged through Willys-Overland's refinement
of the initial World War II Willys MB "Jeep." Introduced in 1955,
the CJ-5 represented a civilian version of the M-38A1 military Jeep
being used in the Korean War. Vastly improved over its military
sibling, the CJ-5 boasted a longer 81-inch wheelbase, comfortable
bucket seats, and more rounded bodywork made of thicker-gauge
steel. The rugged, no-frills CJ-5 proved to be the longest-running
iteration of the continually evolving Jeep, remaining in production
until 1983. Sporting a striking red exterior, this vintage beauty
is sure to turn heads wherever it goes. The tan and red interior
offers a charming contrast, creating a nostalgic atmosphere that
transports you to a bygone era. Under the hood, this CJ-5 is
powered by a "Hurricane" 134 cu-in inline-four-cylinder engine
equipped with Solex carburetor, new fuel pump, pressure regulator
and ignition, mated to a three-speed manual transmission with a new
clutch, throw-out bearing and shift linkage. This combination
ensures a driving experience that is both engaging and authentic,
allowing you to fully appreciate the craftsmanship of this historic
vehicle. Equipped with 15" steel wheels wrapped in Kumho radial
tires, this Jeep offers improved handling and stability, enhancing
your driving experience whether you're on or off the road. Safety
and comfort are not overlooked in this classic model. The inclusion
of seatbelts provides an added level of security, while the vinyl
interior ensures durability and ease of maintenance. This 1959
Willys Jeep CJ5 is more than just a vehicle; it's a piece of
history that offers a unique blend of style, performance, and
practicality.
