The 251c.i.d. original engine was remanufactured to initial
specifications by Jasper Authentic Restorations job #166535 with
less than150 miles has extensive photo documentation: Block casting
1400229, head 04266.
The patina has been maintained on this engine.
A .250 thick diamond plate steel bed provides utility as a working
vehicle.
Largely original as you see it today, the truck was rescued from
oblivion in the middle of the Michaux Forest in Pennsylvania. After
serving many years as a forest fire training and attack truck it
was retired and sent to auction.
It never made it having broken down on a farmer's land that
purchased it from the state of Pennsylvania and eventually gave it
to a local young man who maintained it until it was purchased by
the present owner.
It was not obvious how important this truck was in Dodge and
Pennsylvania history having served as a unique piece of operating
equipment that was maintained fastidiously by the forest fire
service cadets.
This vehicle had never been registered or titled since the state
was required to do neither.
As Luck would have it the present owner is the first titled
owner.
This process took many weeks as the state of Pennsylvania many
years prior had lost the records.
An older long retired state employee who did part time work was
contacted and she was able to find the package of information. It
was thrilling to realize that this vehicle had never been driven on
a public highway or had been owned In title by any one except the
present owner.
An original factory parts book and manuals come with the sale.
