Desoto made a name for themselves as building mid-level vehicles,
along side Dodge, under the Chrysler umbrella competing against the
likes of Pontiac, Studebaker and Hudson. The Firedome was Desoto's
designated V8 model and was produced from 1952 to 1959. This 1955
Desoto Firedome is a very nice, driver quality example of these
great classics. This Firedome benefits from an older repaint in its
current Turquoise and White exterior that shines very well and is
in very good condition. The Turquoise and White exterior is nicely
complimented by the Desoto's factory chrome and stainless trim and
factory steel wheels fitted with factory style hubcaps. The factory
chrome and stainless trim is showing some age throughout. The
Firedome's original Green cloth and vinyl interior has been very
well preserved and is in very good condition. Powering this
beautiful Firedome is its 291 cubic inch Hemi V8 backed by its
Powerflite 2-speed automatic transmission. Both the engine and
transmission perform just as they should and have no problem
pulling this Desoto down the road with ease. This Desoto is
equipped with factory options such as: power brakes, AM radio
(in-op), heater/defrost, and variable speed wipers. If you are in
the market for a nice, turn-key ready classic that is sure to turn
heads at your local cruise-in and is a pleasure to drive, then you
will want to take a very close look at this gorgeous 1955 Desoto
Firedome.
