This is a replica of the 1929 Ford Model A. The Shay Model A is a factory-built replica authorized by the Ford Motor Company, originally sold through Ford dealerships and backed by a Ford 12,000-mile / one-year new car warranty. Faithful in appearance to the 1929 Model A, it featured a modern chassis and drivetrain with much better driving dynamics than the original.
Approximately only 5000 were made. Under the hood is Ford's 2.3 liter overhead cam four cylinder mated to a four-speed manual transmission (considerably more advanced than the Model A's flathead four-cylinder mated to a three-speed non-synchronized gearbox). Paired with rack-and-pinion steering, independent front suspension and front disk brakes, the result is car that comfortably cruises at highway speeds. The power delivery, steering, braking and overall handling are vastly improved over the original Model A. Recent service in the past year includes: New exhaust, New tires, New timing belt and water pump, Tune up and oil change, New alternator and voltage regulator, A new battery., and a specialty bushing to improve the notorious sloppy shifting Shay's are known to have.
This is a car that is sure to turn heads as you cruise down the highway. You get the look of the original model A but the dependability of a more modern vehicle.
