The Jaguar XJS. A car that had a big and almost impossible task; to succeed the E-type. The XJS clearly showed character changes from its predecessor. Where the E-type distanced itself with sportiness, the XJS placed comfort at the forefront. Speed was not forgotten, however; where the E-type did not get the 12-cylinder until much later, the XJS was immediately equipped with Jaguar's well-known 5.3-liter V12 engine. The manual transmission was briefly available, but given the focus on luxury and comfort, it quickly disappeared again.
The V12 provided pretty good performance with 285 hp. The Jag drives to 100 in 6.3 seconds and has a top speed above 250 km/h.
Our Jaguar XJS convertible is an original Swiss-made car and has been owned by only the third owner to date. The first convertibles were built by an American company called Hess & Eisenhardt. This was because Jaguar itself could not manage to build a decent convertible. Nowadays they manage to do it themselves!
Besides the fact that given her age she has given out few smiles a litre, she has been extensively maintained and is ready for a new adventure. A unique driver's car that certainly belongs in our collection of Cool Classics! Will we see you soon?
