For Sale: 1967 Plymouth Satellite in Columbus, Ohio

Vehicle Description

Cruisin Classics is pleased to present to you this 1967 Plymouth Satellite. This first-gen Satellite was born with Turbine Bronze Metallic paint but comes to us today dressed in a coat of driver-quality maroon paint sprayed in 2002. Up front, you'll find a vertical Plymouth hood ornament that touts the 383 under the hood, block letters spelling "PLYMOUTH" across the hood's forward lip, and a horizontal grille beneath. At the sides of the grille are dual side-by-side headlights with bezels and back plates that are showing signs of wear. Beneath the grille is a painted bumper that has some chips, scuffs, and touch-ups. The fenders have "Satellite" script badges toward the forward edge and working turn signal indicators up on top for the driver. Looking down the sides you'll see wheel lip molding, ribbed body side molding with black accents, bright window trim, and drip rail molding. This Satellite has a great stance sitting on a set of Magnum 500 wheels with white-letter BF Goodrich Radial TAs (P215/65R15s up front, P275/65R15s in back). At the rear of the car is another painted bumper (with some scuffs and scrapes like the front one) with dual chrome exhaust tips peeking out from underneath. The trunklid is dressed with a wide silver band that stretches side to side featuring "PLYMOUTH" lettering and ribbed borders at the top and bottom. This band and its trim flow into the wrap-around taillights at the sides.

Lift the hood to find a tidy body-color engine bay. This Satellite was born with a 383ci V-8 back in '67, but it now has a 1970 383ci V-8 under the hood. We do not have any information regarding when, where, or why the engine was replaced, but we know that it happened before 1998 when the most recent owner purchased the car. The blue big block is topped off with a 4-Barrel Holley carburetor, black ribbed "Mopar" valve covers, and a black "Mopar" air cleaner. Headers carry exhaust to the mufflers and out the rear with a rumble. The big V-8 is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission (as it was originally ordered) that puts down the power with a newer Dana 60 rear end with 4.10:1 gears. Though this combination offers great power for 1/8 mile runs, it would need a different gear to be a freeway-friendly car. While under the hood you'll notice that this is a manual steering car. Stopping power comes from manual 4-wheel disc brakes, with a dual reservoir up front and upgraded drilled slotted rotors on the rear corners.

When you open the driver's door, courtesy lights on the center console and the dome light pop on to illuminate a black interior. The vinyl seats and door panels have been treated to the "premium" interior package shared with the GTX that includes a "Western Scroll" design that mimics tooled leather. The car was originally ordered with this package, and the seats have been re-upholstered with OEM-correct covers back around 2000. The door panels themselves are in good condition, but the handles and window cranks are showing pitting from age. The driver's door offers an interior toggle control for the side mirror. Between the front bucket seats is a factory center console with a storage box and shifter for the 4-speed. The console shows light pitting and the lock mechanism for the box is no longer in place, it is lying in the box. The shifter features finger-lifts and a black pattern ball. The crack-free black vinyl dash pad sits atop a chrome-framed instrument cluster ahead of the driver. There are working gauges for temperature, gas, alternator, and oil pressure, but the speedometer and dash lights are inoperable. There are 25,075 miles showing on the odometer though the title reads "exceeds mechanical limits". Beneath the gauges are controls for lights, the working 2-speed wipers, and the fan and heater. Please note that the heat has been disconnected and is inoperable. Cruisin' tunes come courtesy of a working Plymouth Transaudio AM push-button radio. Ahead of the driver is an aftermarket 3-spoke chrome and black steering wheel (horn inop.) on a fixed column to which a SunTune II tachometer has been added. Ahead of the front passenger is a glovebox with a "Satellite" badge on the door and an original owner's manual inside. Underfoot is a nice black hook loop carpet and overhead is a tight black vinyl headliner. Back in the trunk, you'll find a plaid vinyl mat, 2 unmounted BF Goodrich tires, several boxes of original parts, a set of black rubber floor mats, and a scrapbook for the car that contains photos, organized receipts dating back to 1998, the original hand-written Bill of Sale, the original dealer invoice, and the original window sticker (now laminated).

This 1967 Plymouth Satellite is a car that you can get in and enjoy today and it is an excellent starting platform for further restoration. It's tough to find a factory 383 4-speed center console Satellite these days, especially at this price, so don't let this opportunity pass you by! Give our friendly staff a call today and make this MOPAR your own!
