Vehicle Description
1971 Chevrolet Corvette convertible in the most popular corvette
colors, Mille Miglia Red (code 973), this is the car everyone
wanted. With a numbers matching L48 350 code CJL, 4 speed and side
pipes, and those amazing side gill vents, this '71 does an
outstanding job of representing the American sports car. It put the
small block to work in a sleek, muscular, take no prisoners design
that unknowingly was just years before a malaise period with
government regulations and an oil crisis looming that would put a
kibosh on some of the Corvette badassery. The improved resins
create a better canvas for paint, and the red paint here is in
great condition. A thin chrome bumper fronts the shark-like nose
which hides the headlights and sucks air through an egg crate
grille. The headlights function properly. Flush shoulder line
mounted door handles cater to four fingers pushing down to actuate
the door in classic Corvette fashion.? More Corvette excitement is
found in the flat paneled rear fascia where dual tail lights light
up like afterburners in the night, topped by a subtle molded kickup
in the body. The profile of the car is highlighted by the fender
vents and side pipes, and the ralley 15-inch wheels/ Firestone
radials on this car look right at home. The original seats have
been reupholstered in correct black and are in great shape. A 3
spoke steering wheel with tilt and telescopic column leads to a
simple and clean dashboard with the main information a driver will
need in his/her sightline: 160 mph speedometer showing 77056
believed actual miles and 7000 RPM tachometer. The center stack is
more airplane like with five round gauges over a stock AM/FM radio
and space age lamp indicator panel of lights. Beyond that, finger
wheels to control the heater/AC systems, and then the classic
shifter with lock out reverse, black carpet, recently replaced, is
in good condition. Drivetrain The numbers matching 350ci L48 V8 is
present and accounted for and looks spectacular under the hood.
Aluminum performer intake and hooker headers add to the power and
power steering and 4-wheels disc brake setups help on the handling.
Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission that sends power to the 3.08
gears posi in back. The dual exhaust has a short journey thru the
headers before meeting the side pipes which ride along the rocker
panel and dump before the rear wheel for that great sound. The car
rides along in typical early period fashion promise of smiles,
adrenalin, and good times ahead. This Corvette is one of the
legends and what we have here is a fine example you can really
enjoy without worrying about concours level provenance. This
Stingray is local show worthy and would complement any collection,
even if that was a collection of one! As always, we will consider
all types of trades. Transportation is available. Why buy from us?
We are one of the oldest and largest Midwest dealers who
specializes in collector cars, modern muscle cars and imports. We
normally have 40-90 collector cars in stock. All of our cars are
handpicked purchases, not consignments, that have been evaluated
for quality, value and checked over in our shop to assure
drivability. These cars are available to look over, test drive and
evaluate at our location, by appointment only, due to the extensive
amount of travel it takes to find these vehicles. People frequently
buy collector cars at auctions and have no idea what they are
getting, often regretting the purchase due to issues of condition,
drivability, paperwork, etc . We have 40+ year's experience in the
automotive industry and can guide our customers through the
complete purchase experience including shipping if needed. We will
happily consider all types of trades including multiple trades of
different types if necessary. We also will purchase restored cars
and restored collections of cars. No projects wanted. Please do not
hesitate to contact us with any questions regarding a vehicle we
have for sale. PLEASE VISIT US AT
