The classic style of this 1983 Mercedes-Benz 380SL is timeless.
When Mercedes redesigned its famed SL in 1971, there was a lot of
equity behind it. After all, when the incomparable 300SL Coupe and
Roadster were built only just 20 years before, they set the world
on fire. The result was a luxurious V8 Convertible that ended up
being the longest passenger car series ever produced by Mercedes to
date. Despite its age, the SL remained a prized automotive status
symbol and an iconic part of the brand's lineup until it was
finally replaced by the all-new fourth-generation SL in 1990.
Launched in 1980, the 380SL convertible retained the Type 107
bodyshell first introduced in 1971 in virtually unchanged form
apart from the addition of a front spoiler.
This 380SL has had the best of care and it shows both in its
exceptional condition and in its service records. The previous
owner of this classic was a perfectionist and spared no expense to
maintain the car to the highest standards. To that end, the car was
fitted with a completely new and correct leather interior and
woodgrain accent pieces, an upgraded retro radio with Bluetooth and
a beautiful woodgrain rimmed steering wheel. Additionally, the air
conditioning system was rebuilt, as well a new timing chain
installed. All the work was performed recently in 2023, with
receipts totaling $29,977.58 which are included with the sale of
the car. Also with the car are the owner's manual and top removal
tools, as well as the original steering wheel and radio.
